I am moving into an apartment. My furniture is a mocha color. The walls are a light blue and in good shape. I'm trying to move in fast and quick and wait to do majority of the painting until I have time in a couple of months. Should I be embarrassed because the colors don't really go??? Any suggestions of what I can do to make it go together a bit better?

Browns and blues are very in right now. I love the combination, and if you look in decorating magazines you'll find plenty of inspiration. My daughter has a guest bedroom decorated like that and has added pictures of beach scenes and beach textures.

Is it an ice blue or more aqua? Get some paint swatches that match the furniture and the wall to take with you when looking for accessories. You may want to experiment with another color in the mix - maybe tie in to kitchen or dining space.

You did not mention whether there is carpeting or flooring. An area rug could tie the mocha with the light blue through a design or pattern. Accent pillows, candles, and other accessories can compliment the walls. I think silver would be a good touch for frames and lamps.

Actually, I think that browns & blues is kinda in style just now. I bet you could find a big poster at Hobby Lobby or Michael's that would tie the two colors together until you have time to paint. And who knows? You may like it enough...

browns and blues are great together. I understand though if it isn't your personal style. Don't do anything just be in the space for a while and flip thru a lot of magazines.Domino is a good one if you like a bit more on the modern side

You could hang a classic gold-framed mirror on the wall or right when you walk in the room. Everyone will be looking at themselves and not at the room, imbarrasing you. Plus, blue, brown and gold, are very common.

Blues and browns are fantastic together. Just get some turquoise and beige pillows of throws to tie the two together and it will look fantastic I am sure.
