You've noticed that, too, huh? I've learned to translate a lot of the things they say. While it's by no means a complete list, here's some of my favorites.

1) "The Lord works in mysterious ways." Translation: I don't know.
2) "It's not for us to know." Translation: I don't know.
3) "It's all part of God's plan." Translation: I'm tired of admitting that I don't know, so now I'm resorting to making stuff up.
4) "All things will be known in time." Translation: I don't know, but I felt an air of mystery might still make it sound like I DO know.
5) "Who are you to question God?" Translation: Not only don't I know, I demand that you stop asking difficult questions. Otherwise, I just might have to admit that we're all bullshitting ourselves.
6) "God knows, and that's all that matters." Translation: I don't know. Shut up.
7) "Go in peace." (Usually said after using any combination of the above six, and you've given up asking.) Translation: Hopefully I've confused you to the point of feeling like I might have provided an answer for you. (Politicians and lawyers use this approach, too.)

I know I could come up with more, but those are my favorites!

Then I advocate you uncover an additional discussion board. The title in this board isn't "Christians and Spirituality". This board is open to all who wish to invite a query or reply one at the field of faith. If the perception of folks expressing features of view that disagree with yours bothers you and if you're no longer mature ample to manage that then cross uncover a dialogue board geared certainly to Christians. On the hand if you're inclined to be open minded and concentrate to features of view pertaining in your query that you just had no longer inspiration of, and are inclined not to with no trouble disregard the ones viewpoint out of hand, then that is the location for you. It is feasible for an atheist to deliver a honest reply to a query posed via a Christians. I realize, I've performed it and feature even had a few of the ones solutions selected as satisfactory reply. I realize there may be plenty of rubbish published via atheists. If you're sincere you'll agree that there's additionally plenty of crap published via Christians. Personally, I like arising with a good inspiration reply to an exciting and good inspiration query, although I do not believe the character. Let me deliver you an instance. If any person asks 'Christians most effective' to call the 7 lethal sins must I no longer reply to the query, despite the fact that I realize the reply? If it is a query and reply board it kind of feels foolish to preemptively disregard correct solutions, principally considering that it's particularly feasible that a Christian who solutions probably supplying you with the improper reply. Finally, your declaration "The R&S segment is for all people however them' is nonsense. The class designation refers back to the field subject of the questions, no longer the folks asking and answering them. If I had a query approximately the moment Vatican council, might you count on me to invite it in a bit faithful simply to atheists? Of path no longer.

I always have an answer because I know what the Bible says.

1 Peter 3:15 but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; 16 yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

When people say "the Lord works in mysterious ways" I guess that they mean that He doesn't always give us the explanations that can satisfy our full curiosity.

Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

The canned answers I always see are 'the lord works in mysterious ways' and 'god gave us free will', among others.
Those aren't answers, those are cop-outs. Pre-digested bits of obscurity designed to shut you up and stop you thinking.
I'm also tired of hearing that I can't understand the bible if I don't have the 'holy spirit'. As if being literate isn't enough to understand words.
I think you have to put on your 'gullibility hat' to get it.

What kind of help are you looking for? Hey, here is some information for you too...scary but true! Doctors don't know what is wrong with you. They actually only treat symptoms, because they don't actually know why certain illnesses, etc happen. So...there are lots of people in lots of professions who "can't answer" questions.

I believe when people say to you "the lord works in mysterious ways" they are telling you that they have complete faith in the Lord, that's all. Sometimes, you just gotta believe.

Christians do not have all the answers. If they can't answer or can't explain but if they believe in God then they must have faith. The bible said if you have faith the size of a mustard seed then he will take care of you. You don't have to understand every questions, just believe God will lead you through anything. He gives us bad times to appreciate the good times or to help us use the experience to help others through the dark and lonely times.

What makes you think that a finite human mind can ever know all that there is to know about an infinite God?

The Bible itself says that some of God's ways will always be "mysterious", or incomprehensible, to us. What do you expect us to say?

Not only do they say "it's a mystery" -- many times they simply affirm dichotomies in spite of logic. And they use anthropomorphism to describe those beliefs when they are equally illogical. And they present a plethora of logical fallacies to "prove" you wrong. Yup, ask a question, grab the popcorn, and watch the tap-dancing show.

If the question is one that has an answer, my usual answer in that case is, "I don't know, but I'll study that to look for the answer." Then I study it.

There are some things, however, that we are not told in the Bible. In that case, my answer is "I don't know because the Bible does not say."
