i don't want to sounds like a whinnier about it, but its getting really annoying. I live in a condominium complex, we have one assigned parking spot. There are several other unmarked spots but are usually utilized during the weekend by other guests. Consequently guests park on my spot. I then have to walk a block or to in search for a spot. Things i've done:
1. attended board meeting and explained situation. They said they would re-paint the spot and send letters to all residents reminding them of assigned spots.
2. I have left notes on windshields of those who parked illegally but it does not seem to work.
3. politely asked neighbors to remind their guests of parking in unassigned spots.
4. contacted local police to have cars ticketed or towed (police wont come bc its private roads)
This is becoming a nuisances when we have inclement weather or coming home late at night.
When i purchased the condo it was part of the unit, how come i cannot do anything about this? i feel helpless

I would get a traffic cone and put it in the spot; put "RESERVED" in big letters on the cone.

If people continue to park there, I would have their car towed.

Also, are other people having problems with their parking spaces? Maybe if you all agree on the same game plan it would be more effective.

As a condominium owner or renter, you should be entitled to exclusive use of that assigned parking space. OK, you knew that already. We constantly had the same problem at our small condo complex. The Board should mark all spaces to indicate which are assigned and which are for guests. There should be signs reminding guests that they may only park in appropriate designated spaces. Even better if the signs warn them that they can be towed (with number of towing company). Whether the Board does that or not, you have every right to call a private towing company and request that a car be towed from your space. When the owner eventually locates their car (and that could be quite an experience for them), it will likely cost them $200 or more to get it back. That should make them think twice in future.

Double Park them. That will get some response. (Park behind so the person who did it cannot leave). If it is clearly assigned to you you have the right, the police wont come, right? Letters have gone to the residents, correct? You got one too? Do this once, and when they can not move their car, tell them this has been an issue for you for a while, you will not put up with it. Enforce your Lease (living agreement).

Why don't you try to contact other residents to ask if they share your concern? If they do, then start a petition. Maybe when your management sees that other condo owners are displeased and organized, they will take some measures to keep you protected. If it is allowed, get a cone or some sort of block and place it in your spot to deter anyone from parking there. It is sad that you have such inconsiderate neighbors and visitors.

Keep at it. It may seem futile but eventually people will get the message. Try enlisting other neighbors also - you are probably not the only one annoyed by this.
If you know who the guests "belong" to go up to their door and ask them if whoever has that car would please move it. Or...put nails in the spot so anyone that parks there gets a blown tire. OK...possibly a bit immature. lol

Block their car in with yours. When they come to your door to ask you to move your car ask them how they know where to come and how they know that it's your car. They will tell you that it's because it's your spot. Then you can ask them why they are so inconsiderate as to park in someone's reserved spot. That used to work for me when I lived in a condo. Sometimes I just wouldn't answer the door for a while. Nothing pisses off people more than when they want to go somewhere and can't. It really makes them mad - but they do remember never to park in your space again.

Talk to the board and see if they will authorize a tow company to tow the cars parked illegally at the owners expense. The should put up a sign and give the tenents the number to the tow company.

Park your car (double park) directly behind theirs so that they won't be able to get out, and they'll have to come to your door. When they show up, tell them you're too busy to move your car, and would they mind coming back in an hour or so. When they start to complain/whine about it, say, "Well, I'm sorry, but you shouldn't have parked in MY spot in the first place. Maybe next time you'll think twice before you do it." and shut the door in their face.

I have parked behind the person parking in my spot, block them in. Then they have to come looking for you to ask you to move your car - do what I did. Block 'em in and then tell them you're in the middle of something and will move in a few minutes.
They never parked in my spot again!
You are paying for that parking spot, report it to the HOA if nothing happens, start charging for parking. LOL

You can talk to a lawyer to see what your rights are. Or you can barricade your stall and put a no parking sign with a 'will be towed at owner expense' on it.
It may cause problems with your nieghbors but you have tried cicily to solve the problem.
Good Luck
