"if so-and-so jumped off a bridge, follow them, it will make you a man...."

My Mom said that more times to me and my sisters than I could possibly count.
To the one above me: What Fireball's Dad meant was sheep follow each other blindly and many people will do the same.
Peace.

Yes, my parents used to say that all the time. I swore I would never be like my parents, but ahhhhhhhhhhhh! I am just like them because I say the same thing to my kids.

No, but one time I was going to the school yard to ride my new skateboard (late 70s) and my dad said, "If you break both your legs, don't come running home to us." I wisely held my laughter until I left.

Sort of. My parents would say "If everyone didn't jump off a bridge would you do it also?"

No. But if So-n-so jumped, I suspect I might follow her/him.
"The family who eats together don't jump off bridges and they don't do drugs."

No.
I hope it's because they realized we were not stupid enough to say "You know, that sounds like it would be a good idea."
