I have a D40 with a kit lens, a 55-200mm VR and a 50mm F1.8D. I am thinking to get a tripod but don't want to spend that much. I have read that cheap ones are not good and not worth it, so I am willing to spend up to $200, but best is around $100.

I want a lightweight one, and easy to handle. Since I am new to photography, can someone suggest some choices for me?
Is the Bogen_Manfrotto 190XB any good? Thank you very much.

the key is you must have mass to hold the camera steady.
Mass = weight.
you must decide how much weight you want to carry, then figure out if that is enough.
Besides that, being well built helps.

All cameras tripod thread on the backside are the comparable, meaning it relatively is going to settle for all tripods. a expert will inform you to get a fabulous, costly tripod that could final you years and years and face as much as the main brutal situations, yet i think of a tripod in the 50-$eighty USD variety would desire to be adequate. it relatively is a good purchase relatively, once you talk approximately expert fashions fee upwards of $600.

I've been using a Bogen Manfrotto for the past 7 years with no problems. They make good sturdy lightweight tripods. Go for it!
