Hi i work in a pharmacy and have talked to Allie reps. The truth is Alli will only help you lose about 1% more body weight than you would normally be by following the same diet. The bowel accidents are true. I've had customers come in and complain about it and say it was like an oily pizza grease. Gross! =/ Basically if your following the diet and excerise plan they have lined out youll succeed. The pill sort of acts as a psychological trap. You wont cheat on your diet because of the consequences that come. From operant learning once you cheat on your diet and have these consequences take place, you wont cheat again for the psychological fear that they will happen again. These types of pills have been used before in psychopharmacology. Alchoholics were given pills and they would be told these would help curve their cravings. The truth was as soon as they took a sip of alcohol on the medication they would projectile vomit. They learned the consequences and then avoided the actions which would bring the consequences about.
Personally I think if you know your already suceeding why spend $60 a month on pills when you could be doing the same thing for free by just sticking to the diet and excersice.

I've taken Alli since it came on the market, about 4 weeks. In that time I have lost 8 pounds without changing my diet or exercise. I have changed from an evening heavy meal to a lite meal. I eat a heavier meal at lunch.

I have no real side effects. Loose stools but certainly not out of control. I can handle meetings, etc without worry. I think they advertise the side effects so they don't get sued by some nut case. For me it is an excellent experience. I am excited to see where my weight ends up.

According to USA Today
Nanci Hellmich

Several dieters who are taking the new over-the-counter fat-blocking pill, Alli say the medication is keeping them from cheating on their diets because hey know that if they eat too much fatty food they might experience an urgent need to go to the bathroom, oily discharge, gas, or loose stools.

The drug will block about 100-200 fat calories a day. At that rate, they would lose an extra pound every 2.5 to 5 weeks. One patient has lost 35 pounds in six months while on Xenical (prescription version of Alli) because she changed her life style and eating habits in order NOT to deal with the side effects from cheating.

Per Alli people, Sales of Alli “are lining up with our expectations,” “People have to know that this is a program; it’s not a magic pill. They have to stick to this healthy, low-fat diet.”

Benefits are also likely to be short-lived. Alli is marketed for short-term use only, and follow-up suggests that people start to regain weight once they stop taking it.

Because Alli works on the digestive system and not the brain (telling you that you are full) You will have the same difficulties (fighting the need to eat high carb foods) that you have been having while on any other diet.

Best of luck……..Hope it works !

P.S. Purchase the product from GNC, you can at lease return it after 2 weeks.

If you are not having any side effects you must be doing a great job with just your diet. In studies patients using Alli lost ~5 lbs more than patients using the same diet and exercise with a placebo over 12 weeks.

If you don't consider it worth the money and are able to lose weight with just diet and exercise more power to you. On the other hand Alli will shave off a few more fat calories which will eventually add up to a few extra lbs lost. It is up to you.

I'd say don't take it because there is just way more safe ways to do it. I signed up for the gym and in 2 weeks i have lost 10 pounds and i just go on the bikes and lift a few weight but you should also eat every 2-3 hours. Just very small meal. For example you should have breakfast as soon as you wake up then a light snack 2 hours later and the lunch and then a light snakc and the same as for dinner. But dont eat late either because it just sits there. Good luck

Alli is the over the counter version of Xenical which is a prescirption medication. Alli if 1/2 strength of the original. I have taken the full strenght Rx and it did not do anything except make oil leak out of my butt. I never lost any weight. my sister took it and had the oil leak problem also. It was Christmas eve and she was at her in-laws, when she got up off their dining room chair, there was a yellow oily circle under her (LOL) but it's true! i wouldn't waste your money.

I am not and don't plan to be on it. The drug has some pretty bad side affects not to mention once you go off of it, you'll gain all the weight back. Healthy eating, exercise and common sense will get you a better body and better health. A pill will do the opposite in the long run.

I took it when it was a prescription. It does cause loose stools if you don't follow what it tells you to do but you can lose just as much weight without taxing your colon with that stuff. A healthy eating plan (not diet) and exercise at least 3 times a week. Will do wonders without having greasy, gross stools.

I used the Rx version called Xenical (Orlistat) and it worked great. I lost about 80 pounds. I've been using Alli for about 3 weeks... its not doing ...anything.
Nada, Zero, Zilch, Zip and Nothing.
I agree...I'm thinking its a placebo.
A #$!#@$A%# expensive placebo!

The stuff is very interesting. You really have to stick to the diet plan or the accidents will happen. I would never take the stuff. We have learned from diet pills in the past they really do not work. Exercise and eating right is still the right way to go.
