There is some prep before hand. You got to triage and they put an IV in your arm and fill you with a bag of fluid. I waited a while in triage before the obstetrician arrived (I was the first patient of the day).
Then you walk to the OR and get on the bed. You sit up and they insert the spinal into your back. Then presto, your new bundle of joy arrives!

They should give you some drugs and you'll probably be there at least an hour or two before you actually go into surgery. I didn't have a scheduled section. They tried to induce me, but when my Dr. said he was going to do the section (it was NOT emergency) it took about an hour and a half before they brought me back to the OR. Good luck with the new baby and congrats!

I was induced with my first pregnancy and labored for 29 hours before they decided on a c-section.
The second c-section is soooo much easier. You know what to expect...and you can enjoy the experience more. No worrying about what's going to happen or if you are going to have a natural childbirth or not...is it going to hurt...etc.
I was in the OR at 5:30 and my daughter was born at 5:37. They stitched me up and I was in recovery in no time.
Sit back, relax and enjoy your hospital stay. As silly as it sounds it is the best sleep you are going to get for a while. You have another child at home and I'm sure you will be eager to get home quickly to cater to his/her needs...take care of yourself the first week and bond as a family!
Congratulations on your future addition! I wish you all the best.

usually they will tell you to come in at a certain time.. but they tell everyone else who has a scheduled c-section that same thing so their could be alot of you that show up! I went to the hospital at 8 in the morning didn't end up having my son till 11:41. I was shaved down their then taken into the room where I received a spinal tap. Then they got everything ready brought in my husband and got the job done... It was all fast once I got in the room.... GOOD LUCK.

What??? You make an appt a week before due date like 6am and they take some blood work and then prepare you for surgery in an operating room. The operation takes roughly 30 minutes after they have given you an epidural 30 minutes before.
The baby will be born by like 9:00am that day.
Then you go to a recovery room and after youstop throwing up from the epidural for like half an hour they take you to your room in Maternity and then you're for 4 days.

i've got had 3 and each have been given greater handy. the 1st - i became in hard artwork for an exceptionally long term (you does not have faith me if I advised you) and so i became thoroughly exhausted and healed very slowly. the 2nd - they tried to bring about hard artwork and gave up after sixteen hours of not something. I healed a lot swifter on the grounds that I had no hard artwork and became properly rested. The 0.33 one became planned on the grounds which you may not attempt VBAC after 2 c-sections. i became properly rested and arranged and healed even swifter than selection 2. Take the possibility to get as a lot relax as you may before hand and that i'm specific it somewhat is going to be a lot greater handy with a swifter therapeutic time. inspite of each and every thing, you recognize what to anticipate now - that with the help of itself makes it greater handy.

Hi, i have one scheduled too. They just do it. They dont wait for labour or your waters breaking etc. SO you dont have to go thru pain.
I was told that if i have labour pains or my waters break etc before the c-section, i need to go straight to the hospital.
I would ask the doc about this for you too. You need to know where to go (what section of the hospital).
All the best for delivery!

yo wil check in, change into a gown and get an IV. They will give you the eppidural after you have a bag of fluid in you, then wheel you into the OR. Its quick, you will usually have the baby in a few hrs after check-in. Good luck

as soon as i arrived at the hospital they took me to a room to be prepped........i had to answer alot of questions, they started an IV and put a catheter in. i had to sit maybe 20 minutes before they took me back to the operating room. this i where they gave me my spinal block.....not fun. with me they had a hard time because my belly was so large i couldn't bend over far enough for them to get the needle in the right spot
SORRY!! i am NOT trying to scare you.
best of luck to you...hope things go smoothly :)

Mine was scheduled. After they admitted me and put in the spinal, they take you to an O.R. You will be numb from your chest down and they take the baby out. It sounds like it will be easy compared to your last one. They try not to wait and let you have contractions.
