is there any legal limit to our right of free speech, assembly, & using the mass media?

You can not falsify stories. You can not use slander or liable. You could be sued,although it is extremely though to win a slander or liable case. Any defamation can get you sued. As far as assembly, you can picket and protest, but you can't riot. You will be aressted. Free speach in public depends on where you live. Some states if some one hears you say F**k and are offend by it and have witnesses that say it was you, they can get you for disturbing the peace.

Us Constitution, 1st Amendments: Congress shall pass no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right or the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Any law that limits (aka abridges) these rights is unconstitutional, Supreme Court decisions to the contrary not withstanding.

Ben Franklin said it best when he said "My right to swing my fist ends where your face begins" You may say anything you like under the fist amendment, so long as what you say does not hurt anyone else (slander) nor does it take away anyone elses rights.
