How personal did you get with yourself in the process. It could be considered sex. Anything that belongs to someone else might be considered lust if you want it too much. Another thought: If lust and adultery are both forbidden by the 10 commandments, did David sin more when he lusted after Bathsheba or when he actually committed adultery. Did he sin once or twice and was one sin greater than the other? I lust after Sees candy. I was able to avoid that temptation. Then Sees came up with sugar free dark chocolate covered walnuts. How much temptation and lusting can one person handle? Life is too short to waste on wanting things you shouldn't have. Those walnuts tasted great.

The clearest observable and measureable sign of lustful thoughts is called 'popping a tent'. Whether you are alone or not this is a surefire indication of lust.
