i formatted the new memory card in my camera and still?help please??

it kept saying i need to initialize the card [ its a brand new card, i lost my othr one ] and my brother told me to format it,so i did and if i turn the camera off and then back on it still says i need to initialize it again.but if i keep it on and take a picture then it says "write error" so idk what to do help me please

somehow it didn't get formatted.
Does the card have a write protect switch on it??

If no or if it is not set, try again. if it doesn't format, it may be the camera.
You could try formating it in another camera that takes that card. It should work as the format is the same.
