Because those of us who do pick up that cross and carry it knows what it means to do so. Therefore, when someone else is struggling to carry theirs, your love and understanding causes you to reach out and help! It is just what we do, if we truly carry a cross!

I will say though, that there are times when people do not know that you are struggling under the weight of the cross! That is when God is there to help carry us and our cross! He never fails!

All Christians should have a cross or two to bear.

We are commanded to give up the ways of the world and pick up our crosses and follow Jesus.

We do not magically get to get rid of our fleshly desires, troubles and aches and pains. We just carry them with an understanding that the prize is not here on earth, but in heaven.

We get upset and our cross gets heavier when we knowingly give in to our fleshly desires and complain and grumble and all other sorts of non christian like behavior. this is when God helps us carry our cross and reminds us we are forgiven and to take our cross back up and carry it once more with the prize waiting at the end of the journey.

One reason is because God does not allow you to go through something without you being able to help someone else through their situation. God teaches compassion, empathy, and love for others that are burden down. Most that are already car ring their crosses know it is the righteous thing to do to help your brother or sister out during rough times. This is all part of being a humbling servant of God's.

That reminds me of the old saying, "If you really want something done, ask a busy person." A couple more just came to mind, "I cried because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet!" *and* an old Native American saying, "Don't criticize another member of your tribe until you have walked a mile in his moccasins."

If a person has not had to bear his/her own cross, he/she might not even know what the term means!

Empathy is right.

There’s nothing like tripping and falling to teach us what a fractured ankle feels like, and to make us grateful for an arm to lean on.

because when people suffer afflictions, it humbles them ... futhermore, Christians who suffer have been actually blessed with the gift of better being able to relate to, understand and minister to someone else who is suffering.
