For instance a Real Estate Agent, they work on comission and if they were to recieve a letter from the IRS notifying them that their wages will be garnished can they take the money they make off comission?

If they can serve the person that pays you the answer is yes. The process may be a little different but the end result is the same. You can run but you can't hide.

I don't know for sure, but I'd assume it's possible. They normally garnish whatever you make for salary, but if you work completely off commission they can probably demand that your employer pay them a certain percentage, or take a part of it if the commission totals a certain amount.

When in doubt about IRS practices, call a lawyer. Almost all lawyers will answer questions like these for free.

The I.R.S. can pretty much do what it wants if you owe them money (take your car,house,freeze accounts ext.) So the answer is yes!
