ahem p.s. i know what they mean when they say it and while this question is a smart *** comment i still have a little bit of curiousity as to what your definition of "showing himself".
Since that seems to be a growing popular answer as to why people believe in a god

I believe God is a real being. (Now people have many "gods" but their is only one true God. I am referring to the God of the Bible. ) I believe God is the creator of heaven and earth. God is a very personal God. In fact he wants to have a personal relationship with you. (How cool is that to have a personal relationship with the one and only true God?!) Anyway, God knows where you are at (spiritually) and he knows all about you. He even knows how many hairs are on your head.
(Matthew 10:30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. It's also noted in Luke 12:7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.)
I don't know about you but I know people who really love me with all their heart, but think about the patience and love to count someones hair! Wow, that's real Love! ...well and the fact that he sent his one and only son Jesus to die for you and for me for all our sins. What an out pour! I challenge you, if you really want to know what it means to have God show himself to you, get on your knees by yourself and ask God to show himself to you or whatever is in your heart or curiosity. He knows your heart. But be sincere. God knows exactly how to touch your heart if you let him.
John 4:16 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

I can't say what others may have seen
However I can tell you about my experience
While I was meditating one day an energy came through so strong I could not sit it was pushing me to the ground
A male face came through old but wise with a smile
It was too strong so I broke the meditation
I then asked my Spirit Guide what or who was it why was the energy so strong
The reply was
Always fall to your knee when in the presence of the "O Mighty One"
The energy was so strong because it was none like you have experienced before my child
I was in shock
So all my advice is God will show himself as in the image of man and what may be gentle with a wise face with strong energy and if you want that special presence just meditate until it happens

I think you need God.
Not just because I'm a Christian and I'm supposed to say that, but because you obviously need a hobby considering you have nothing better to do than ask sarcastic questions.
To answer your question:
God shows himself in alot of different ways..anyone who has experienced "seeing God" will have a different answer.

Well as I always said, God looks like Morgan Freeman! and he likes the color white...white tux, white tie, white undershirt...so if you don't like white...then it would be under T.L.C.'s "What not to wear" but he's still a pretty snazzy dresser...good poker player too....oh and Jesus was an Arab, hate to break it to you...since you know, he lived in the MIDDLE EAST!!! He'd be Arab...so yeah...

When people say that, they mean that God has just made him/herself apparent to them. Not necessarily visually. If someone speaks to you from behind, you can't see them, but you have reason to believe that they're there.
