My twin sister would yell @ me all the time, & when I told my foster mom, she used to say, "How can she fuss @ you & she's your age"? Do you have to be an adult to fuss? Is fussing like verbally chastizing a child? Was I taught wrong about the idea of the difference between fussing & yelling? I think they're the same thing.

Fussing is complaining and whining about something unnecessarily.

Yelling is losing your temper and behaving like a self-centred moron.

I think most people use "fussing" as far as someonme reprimanding and / or scolding you or even nagging you. Yelling is actually raising ones voice.

I always have used "yell" even if the person did not raise his / her voice, but the people i know from the south say "fussin."

It is all the same to me. I think it depends upon where you were raised.

They are the same thing. "Fussing" is just more of a childish or slang way to say it. Of course, "fussing" could also mean arguing or chastising, without yelling.
