Faith without works is dead.
Faith precedes the miracle.
They shall have ears, but not hear; And they shall have eyes, and not see.
You obviously don't know what any of these statements mean with that line of thinking.

You don't necessarily have to read the Bible in order for God to reveal himself to you but it kinda is a book about him, so if you were truly seeking that would be a good place to start.
He reveals himself through his creation every day, but you have to be willing to see him. Can you honestly look at the specialized species on this planet, understand the tides and the moon, watch a baby develop, see a bird fly, understand our delicate balances and NOT think there was an intelligent designer? Do you know how utterly impossible it is - just statistically speaking - to have all of this happen randomly and in the proper order and with proper timing?
If you walked into a cave and saw drawings on the wall, it would be clear evidence that an intelligent lifeform had been there at one point in time. The complexity and majesty of this world is waayyy beyond cave drawings, yet you can't even begin to apply the same logic because your eyes are willingly blind.
Do YOU know what suggestion is from a psychological perspective?

I was a Christian before I read the bible and I had very personal revelation from God. I was dreaming about passages of the bible and having them explained to me weeks before I read them. The Holy Spirit reaches out to the individual in a way that is unique and personal to them. For some it is the urge to read the bible as the Holy Spirit places it within us. Opening your heart means going along with the urges and being open to where God is leading you. Christians can talk about Jesus until they're blue in the face but it is when the blessing of the Holy Spirit is behind what they're saying that the suggestion takes root. Nothing to do with psychology, just God and His first 'revelation' to us. If you're getting the urge, soften up a bit and let Him lead you. God bless.

Until the late fourth century of the church there was no NT Scriptures that were accepted by all Christians as Canon so the faithful came to faith then as they do today by the call of the Holy Spirit. Missionaries will tell you of meeting tribes in the jungle who had no way of ever knowing about God already prepared by the Spirit to accept their teaching.
The Bible teaches us in both the OT and the NT that we have the law written on our hearts and coming to faith is simply a surrender to that law. It would seem that the Bible from this teaching has little effect on bringing one to faith but it is instead the Spirit which makes the call to which we surrender. Those who never respond to the call have no hope of eternal life.

Yes, many Christians do know what "suggestion" in psychology means. It might surprise you the find that many Christians, most I know, are rocket scientists, medical doctors, psychologists, social workers, airline pilots, anthropologists, look out there might be one of us in theater near you.
Now to the answer, who said God has to reveal through you studying the Bible and not the other way around? But, then again, did you learn physics by osmosis? Or did you bang your head against the wall, pestered by you teacher until you had an Ah Hah moment? He might reveal Himself, if He so choose, via Yahoo.

You seem to be referring to an expectation of a certain religion, though I'm not sure which one. In my own, Quakerism, we believe that revelation did not end with the Book of Revelations, but continues each and every day. Our practice is to open ourselves to the "still small voice" of God through waiting worship -- that is, silent waiting for the Holy Spirit to speak to us. Our practice of discernment (figuring out whether our messages are truly divine in origin) is in part based on Scripture, so a knowledge of the Bible is helpful, but we believe that God is accessible to all, regardless of whether they've even heard of the Bible.
Perhaps what you're reacting to is the idea of dogma? Religions differ in their outlooks, and you may yet find another path to God that doesn't include rules like the one you cited in your question.

It depends on what you think Christ is.
Most Christians seem to think it's just Jesus.
The Bible says all things were made through Christ so obviously there's more to Christ than Jesus.
If God is all powerful as they say then why can't he speak to many people through their hearts. Particularly in times when bibles weren't available.
Who are these people to claim that God only speaks with them, and limits an all loving god to such narrow definitions?
Even the people in the bible had revelation first study after.
Remember the time in the bible that God spoke to a man through a jackass? Why do they persist in their argument that God still needs jackasses?
Blessed Be!

I don't even believe in Freudian psychology.
To call to mind by association of ideas.
You can't truly study the Bible until you've been called by God.
If the Lord doesn't lead you, then you will never get the Bible revealed to you. Without the Holy Spirit to teach us, the Bible does not open up.

The dogma of some Christians instructs us as to the correct or incorrect method to find God through Christ.
In fact, (IMHO) there are as many paths to God as there are people in the world. All individuals with a very personal & individual God.
Believe, repent and then live in the light of truth until your eventual return to the maker.
Or as in your case "Not".

No! You have to open your heart to Him first.
BTW...Revelation is the last book in the bible. Do you always read backwards? (Per my husband who majored in Psychology)
Also God works in mysterious ways...I know you might not like that one but it's the truth.
Open your heart means to humble yourself and seek God wholeheartedly like a love struck school girl. No poetry here.
If a rose was called by any other name, would it smell as sweet? It matters not what order Christ reveals Himself to you, it matters if you've given your life to Him. God knows your heart and He said the heart is deceitful, who can know it?
BTW...have you ever noticed that after you've bought your car, you notice more cars just like yours are on the road? It happens when your eyes are opened.
