Even here in America we are asking this same exact question. I've studied Christianity (the baptist, evangelisic, methodist, catholic, etc) and Judaism, and Islam, and came up with the same conclusive answers:
1) God has many names but one purpose for the plight of man
2) Faith in self is just as powerful as faith in God
3) The difference between Faith and Religion is there are no rules to tell you how to have faith, but in practicing religion
there are many. This is the reason why there is so much hatred, animosity and war in this world...and, I'm quite sure, is the reason why God is sitting up there laughing hard at us fools!!!
I believe in faith. To me it is simplistic: a man believes he can make to the top at his job and one day he moves from line employee to supervisor and continues up the ladder so long as he has faith in himself. It happens all the time, it happened to me! So yes, in my humble opinion, I will state without reservation that people are definitely wasting their time with practicing religion. Religion has now become synonymous with gangs, mafia, and clans. Don't believe me? Look at Iraq.

Yes, it's just a waste of time. You can have purpose and meaning in your life without religion. I do. No, blind hope is not better than nothing.

Of course not. Having faith gives people hope and a purpose in life. How can that be seen as wasting time. If you choose to have no faith, that's your choice. But, you shouldn't try to take away from one's faith. Good luck. 2D

I have a relationship with Jesus Christ and you know what it isn't a waste of time. Also being in this faith I realize my pupose to my life. To me when you find or realize your purpose to life it does give it meaning but my faith isn't just something to do it's real and know that i'm Christian I don't waste a single second i finally reconized my purpose.
Long answer but true.....

Hope is always better than nothing.
But your life can have great purpose and meaning without religion.
Religion is only the worship of God not God.
If you are not happy with your religion just give God the benefit of the doubt and talk directly to him, believe he will show you the way.
Trust him and love him.
If he is real he will teach you much better than any religion can.

No. You cannot prove that my belief is wrong.
God gives me joy. My life is not wasted.
My hope is not blind.
Your "question" is worded in a way that is quite offensive, as well as disrespectul.
You surely would not want any religous person to tell you that your life was sorry and of no use, would you?
You certainly would not want to tell you that youe life had no purpose and that it was meaningless, would you?
You would never want to be told that your atheist beliefs were wrong, would you?
Then don't say that to us.
Have a happy evening. Treat others with respect.

hun you are asking a huge question here! People differ so massively and whatever your believes others believe differently. For some believing in God and religion is their life, and if that makes them happy and fulfills them then I guess the answer is yes, thats good for them. You will never change what people believe, so its best to just let them think what they wish to think, and if it makes their life easier and softens the blow of reality then thats all good. Personally I dont really believe, but I wish I could have the comfort and faith that many others have. It seems to get them through their darkest days, however misguided you and I think it is, they believe and good for them.

To allow yourself to be chained by any religion is not smart. Keep an open mind and enjoy life to the max without being repressed by a lot of stupid idiotic beliefs that will take you no where.

Those without faith. have closed their minds to everything that they cannot see in front of them. Faith expands your mind and forces you to think outside the box of what the world considered "real"
