I was advised by many people that when I move or change my phone #, do NOT tell the collection agencies-in order to prevent them from harrassing me. Yes I'm in debt & don't have the money to pay them off since I'm on fixed income.

I just moved & I have a different phone # now. I just had this scary thought that if they're trying to sue me, I wouldn't even know that they are. & what if I get a letter forwarded to my new address after the court date, without knowing I had one? Could that lead to me having a warrant out for my arrest & possibly going to jail? Also, is it a bad idea to not let collection agencies know where I moved? Because when I moved last time & they started harrassing me, my brother got mad @ me when I was living with him, & they started threatening him about me. So I feel so mixed up, confused, & worried. I want to pay my debts, but I'm disabled & don't have enough $$ to go bankrupt & don't wanna go bankrupt. Can you tell me what I should do? Please-no rudeness.

Go to a place like Consumer Credit Counseling. They will find out what your debts are and set up a payment plan for you. It won't be anything you cannot afford. That will keep anyone from calling you. Do this soon. They will probably have to have your address but the agency can help you take care of everything. They can even negotiate with your creditors for you. Do this so you do not have to file backruptcy. One of these agencies can and will help you.

I know this only adds to your depression but doing this will get a lot off of your mind.

Good luck sweetie, we have all had difficulties that made it hard to pay off bills.

1st they can not harrass anyone but the people who are on the agreement 2nd yes what you said could happen, make contact with them and make payment arrangements. if you are paying something there is little they can do. also think about calling a credit consolidator who will work with each person you owe to get payments down this will affect your credit but by the sounds of it that is not a issue
