yes they convince themselves, but religion is sold convincingly, also.

If you think about the world today, and have studied the Bible, it would make more sense to you. yeah sure of course the Easter bunny is fake. Who ever heard of a 280(or more) pound bunny, that leaves eggs for you to find? or a fat man in a red suite squeeze down a narrow chimney? so yeah, of course i believe the Bible, but you must read the Bible with fresh eyes and an open heart. For i can not force Christianity upon you. So i hope i helped somehow.
stay blessed for you are in my prayers.

I'm a religious person and I don't believe in Santa Clause, or the Easter bunny and many of the other things that you have named. I believe in God though and that as amazing as we were made, some intelligent higher being must've made me. Do ignorant people really convince themselves that they are crap and came from nothing?

Funny I thought the stories that were hardest to believe came from atheists. I guess it is kind of funny that God so loved this creation of his called mankind that he would send his son to die for our sins so we could have a relationship with him...Love really is strange but not crap!
To steal a line from the title of a book, after looking at the evidence I put myself in the category of many former atheists like C.S. Lewis, Lee Stroebel, Alister MacGrath etc., I just didn't have enough faith to be an atheist.

Universes popping out of nothing, DNA forming by random chance.... ROFL
"The principle of [divine] purpose ... stares the biologist in the face wherever he looks ... . The probability for such an event as the origin of DNA molecules to have occurred by sheer chance is just too small to be seriously considered ... ."Ernst Boris Chain - Nobel Prize in medicine
Why even Professor Antony Flew the former atheist (30+ years of speaking as an atheist) that had debated men such as C.S. Lewis recently said that the latest biological research "has shown, by the almost unbelievable complexity of the arrangements which are needed to produce (life), that intelligence must have been involved." He isn't a Christian but has come to the conclusion that there must have been a God that started the whole thing up.
"Truth is absolute and knowable and must be searched for diligently, but many will try to hide it, deny it or muddy it." - Bia Leung.

What made me believe is this: at 4 my dad threw me over board and the current got me,raped at 12, close encounter with death again at 14,foster parents put us foster kids in a nut ward and left us, three weeks later we were found...15 emancipated, prostitution, bikers, drugs, stealing and sleeping on a card board box in a cemetary, snow and ice on the ground and the only clothing I had was a pair of shorts and a tank, no shoes, people looked right past me as ifI did not exsist, over all 13 different times I should have died, beatin so bad my face took months to heal, and I found my name on a list, and was told how I was gonna die, I was ready and didn't have the strength to fight anymore, but that last beating meant to take my life saved it....their is so much more I could tell you, this is just alittle, to answer your question, the one question that kept raising up is" theres got to be more to life than this", I knew that the truth had to be beautiful..I just didn't know the thruth was God...until I heard him call my name 3 times...and still was afriad cuz of all that I heard about him was he wouldn't want me, cuz I wasn't good enough, I didn't measure up and all that...but he said different and I knew I had heard the truth....

When I was 5 years old, I was run over by a car. As I lay there dying, the Lord came to me and told me "Don't be afraid, you're going to be OK." A peace came over me and I knew that it was the Truth, and I wasn't afraid because I recognized the authority of his Word. When the paramedics came and took me to the hospital, the doctors kept me there for a week for observation, and all the doctors and nurses were amazed -- I could hear them whispering to each other "he shouldn't be alive... it has to be some kind of miracle." I had no broken bones, no ruptured organs, no internal bleeding... nothing but the tire tracks across my chest and stomach.
I believe in God... you can believe what you want.

If you feel so angry and want to lash out at somone for their beliefs what on earth are you doing here at this site. And also not everyone that believes in god is "religious" What if you are the one that is wrong, it goes nowhere to argue the point about faith ,and even if you do not have any I think you are a sad human being for judging what you or anyone else knows, you obviously think that you are more important than anyone else on this planet, you should start your own website about yourself .

Actually, No. God shows us that it is all real. Except, of course, for the Allah, Buddah, Santa Clause, Easter Bunny stuff.
He would show you, too, if you would let your heart soften.

The only thing real concerning your opinion is how badly alot of people in here embarrass themselves trying desperately to prove it wrong. That's entertainment of the highest quality.

Some do indeed strive to convince themselves but some don't. Some try to question what they discovered but every time they end up with the same conclusion.

If you believe in God, the rest will fall into place, and you will believe in God's miracles also.
