Why do they have so many misconceptions.

They think so many untruths about Catholics, they think they pray to mary etc, and yet dont realise that they only have their understanding because of catholics.

Further why does it bother them, they are not really serious in trying to "convert" people

Any ideas??

The reason I think Catholics pray to Mary is because I see a lot of bumper stickers that read "Honor Mary Pray the Rosary". Pardon my ignorance, I'm sorry if I've offended you, but that's why I think that. Beside, I couldn't care less who you, Catholics, or anyone else prays to, that's not my business. Good luck. 2D

Part of the problem is the way the Catholic church ran itself. I am not knocking the idea of Catholicism, but why did the Catholic church plunder all who stood before it in our not to distant past? Didn't Christ say "I am all around you"? Thus negating the need to worship in a church, and Catholics stopped getting the monies they thought were owed to them. Wasn't it the Catholics that edited the bible for their own cause, and made Christ look immortal and Mary Magdalene out to be a whore? Where are the rest of the gospels that the Vatican are so keen to hide? I wonder what truths they contain?
Don't mean to rant, but all faiths are fundamentally flawed. Islamic extremists state they base their beliefs in the Koran, Islam is a piece loving religion, however most people now associate it with extremism. Protestants hardly ever go to church accept to get married or at a funeral.
Life is too precious to be bothered about what others believe, live your life in the best way you know how and if there is an afterlife/heaven then you will get you rewards in the end.

Fundamentalists understand authentic Christianity about as well as a fellow reading a DOS manual from 1983 could understand today's internet.

They claim to believe only what they find written in the plain text of the bible .... unless they can find something they like better ... and in that case, they'll happily start up a whole new church ... complete with a new version of the bible, to match.

They belong to a faith tradition that has no discipline at all, because they believe that the bible is subject to their own personal interpretation, and they believe that once a person is saved, he's always saved, no matter what.

If only that were true! If only that were true ...

I can not speak for everyone for I am but one...but as an EXcatholic I can speak regarding your post.

As a catholic I can HONESTLY say "YES, we DID pray TO Mary". NO doubt about that. We also prayed to Joseph, and others in the scriptures. It was WRONG to do so...but we DID do that....as do ALL those who are true to their catholic denominational doctrines.

Mt 13:55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? Mt 13:56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? (Hmmmm, brothers AND sisters)

Ga 1:19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother. (Hmmm, brother)

The catholic denomination says that Mary was a VIRGIN all her life....the scriptures say otherwise.

Joh 7:5 For neither did his brethren believe in him...In the Greek

John 7:5 is to be understood literally as brother and not countryman, or fellow Christian, or disciple.

To KISS the feet of a STATUE, bowing toward or to the statue, praying to the statue, etc. is a form of WORSHIP.......in simple words IDOL worship.

Why do those of the catholic faith bow to and kiss the feet of the statues in the buildings?...statues of Mary, Joseph, Peter, etc. To do so is a form of IDOL worship.

I RESPECT who Mary was....she definately was BLESSED among all women for it was SHE who would give birth to the Messiah...but there are NO scriptures that tell us to revere her in the manner that the catholic denomination does. It is only the TRADITIONS OF MAN that elevate her higher than the scriptures do.

A bishop is to have a wife, children, and a home that they rule well according to 1 Tim. 3:2-4 therefore the catholic denominational "bishops" do not qualify to be BISHOPS.

1ti 3:2 A bishop then MUST be blameless,
the HUSBAND OF ONE WIFE,
vigilant,
sober,
of good behaviour,
given to hospitality,
apt to teach
1ti 3:4 One that ruleth well HIS OWN HOUSE,
having HIS CHILDREN in subjection with all gravity.

WHY bow to the pope?

When Cornelius bowed down before Peter, Peter told Cornelius to, "STAND UP; I myself also am a man. (Acts 10:25) also (Rev. 19:10)

Some say it was a matter of RESPECT for Peter...but even PETER rebuked him for it

I could go ON and ON but what I have posted is enough.

I left the catholic denomination because I wanted eternal salvation instead of eternal loss.

Have a GREAT tomorrow. :o)

Black propaganda.

Fundamentalists talk as if they thought no case could be made for the Catholic faith. That’s understandable. After all, if you’re a Fundamentalist instead of a Catholic, it is because you do not believe that Catholicism is true. You reject it because you think it is false.

No matter how many times you explain a Catholic doctrine to them they will ignore it. As if they know better about Catholicism than Catholics themselves. Fundamentalism is the height of religious intolerance.

Peace and blessings!

It is a sad, but undeniable, fact that Catholics are ignorant about the Bible.
The ignorance is not because Catholics are not exposed to Sacred Scripture - in fact, a person who attends Sunday Mass (assuming that he or she comes early enough to listen to the readings) for 3 years will have heard a substantial portion of the Bible being read.
For Catholics who attend Daily Mass, their exposure to the Bible is further increased by a factor of 2-3 times.
The problem is that Catholics don’t know the Bible apart from what they hear (or read) at Mass - as a result, most of the readings, which they are encountering for the 1st time, will be whizzing above their heads instead of providing food for reflection and prayer.

lack of know-how of Catholicism and Catholic ideals nonetheless does not provide up it from being the main important and maximum effectual effect in the international. in case you ever see the movie The Scarlet and the Black with Christopher Plummer and Gregory %. you would be inspired to be certain how the Nazi's concept their Reich would reign for hundreds of years notwithstanding it somewhat is purely the Catholic Church that has finished so while in comparison with each and every of the guy made companies. it is likewise thrilling to observe that in case you look up all Christian denomination in the encyclopedia or almanac they demonstrate the date and individual who all started those church homes. in straightforward terms the Catholic Church can say it got here immediately from Christ and from his time. Galation a million:6-8 Paul says some converts pervert the gospel: i'm bowled over at you! suited away in any respect you're deserting the guy who noted as you with the help of the grace of Christ, and are accepting yet another gospel. certainly, there is not any “different gospel,” yet I say this because of the fact there are some people who're frightening you and attempting to alter the gospel of Christ. yet in spite of if we or an angel from heaven could pontificate to you a gospel that may not comparable to the single we preached to you may he be condemned to hell! Semper Fidelis!

I was a Catholic for many, many years. The reason Catholic teaching gets attacked is because its teachings are way off in many ways.....why should the liturgy of the Catholic mass mean so much, when Jesus paid the price for sin, once and for all....after reading many testimonies from priests and nuns who left the Catholic teachings only to follow the bible 100 percent, that convinced me too. We are not saved by works...you can't say xxxx number of Our Fathers etc to gain credit for your soul.

Catholics do pray to Mary. (and St. Anthony and a whole bunch of other saints). Where's the misconception. Catholics have churches that may as well be smothered in gold, with a ton of costumes (worn by priests) and statues. I can't possibly figure out why people would think poorly of Catholics.

Many Christians were Catholics and know all about their beliefs. Catholics don't follow the Bible, they don't have a personnal relationship with God and they are not true Christians.
