I am cooking spaghetti with ground turkey and prego sauce. I cannot make it from scratch because of time. What can I put in that dull sauce to make my spaghetti taste more homemade?

Hey darlin' I have a few nice suggestions. First cook and brown some Jimmy Dean Italian Sausage with your turkey drain the grease from the meat using a colander then rinse your meat using the colander with hot water and wash out your pan to get all that grease out from everywhere. Then I suggest use Newman's sockaroo sauce for your spaghetti. Then through in with your boiling noodles two cloves of garlic and three table spoons of olive oil. There you have it darlin'. Best cookin' for you and yours.

Good question, as I'm always looking for a way to "cheat" on my Marinara sauce, too........I've found that if you add a 6 ounce can of tomato PASTE (very intense tomato flavor) and some grated Parmesan cheese and some red pepper flakes........If I happen to have them, I'll throw a small jar of chopped roasted red peppers, sometimes I'll add 1/2 cup of salsa (yes, I said salsa, the kind that you use to dip tortilla chips in, you won't believe what boost of flavor it gives the jarred sauce) Give those a shot, I think you'll be pleasently surprised........Oh, and since it's summer, if you or a neighbor has a supply of fresh basil, about 15 chopped leaves in your sauce will make a big difference in it......Enjoy!!!

making from scratch is easier than you think.

I don't ever buy jarred sauce and in the time it takes me to heat the water for the pasta and make it I have healthy sauce all made.

While browning the meat toss in one roughly chopped onion (they sell them pre cut at the store if it is really a time pinch) and one pack of sliced mini portabellas. once the meat is done add: One can (14 oz) of diced tomatoes with the onions and the garlic already in it. Half can of tomato paste (the little can). A 14 oz can of tomato sauce. Some fresh basil, buy a jarred italian seasoning mix. you are good to go, just bring it up quick to a bubble and its done.

To add a bit more veggie, I grate up on the small side of my cheese grater a seeded zucchini, it looks like the spices that get tossed in and the kids don;t know they are eating a veggie:)

You could saute a small amount of garlic for a few minutes, until tender, but not too long or at too high of a temp or it will burn. Add the prego sauce and heat until bubbly. Or saute in some garlic and onion.

Another option is to add a teaspoon of dried oregano to the sauce while heating or adding some fresh chopped basil or oregano to the top of the sauce and pasta

Lastly you could get an Alfredo sauce too, and mix the two together for a creamier sauce.

Well I don't use the ready to go sauces, I do my own with the tomato sauce, I cook down a very large onion and have three or four pieces of garlic that I minced, throw it in the pot with browned onions,I then add my three cans of tomato sauce and cook down for about 45 Min's.I then add water, and meat mixture. Let cook till meat is done, Then here;s the trick, I take some gravy mix, the dry kind, and get it cooked according to directions till it is nice and thick, when the spaghetti sauce is almost all cooked you add half of the gravy sauce to the tomato gravy in pot, stir up and you will have a rich beautiful spaghetti sauce mix for your family and love ones. I use the other half of gravy sauce for mashed potatoes. Hope this helps.

Pour the sauce into a pot add oregano and hot pepper flakes ,take five minutes and saute either mushrooms, zuchini squash slices any leftovers of chicken and serve with parmesan cheese, or canned clams,or olive oil and sauteed garlic and skip the ground turkey. try shrimp in the sauce all good. I've had them all several times.

Yes, spice it up using herbs. Fresh basil is super. Your problem is the turkey. How bland is that. When I make spaghetti and don't have time to cook up meat balls I take some Italian sausage (hot if you desire, I do) and cut into chunks. Fry, and add to the sauce.
