My ears have had holes in them for a looooong time (several years). These are my earrings, and no one else wears them. Would wiping them off with a paper towel be sufficient? or do I really need to use some ear cleaning stuff?

You "can" (capable of doing so), but it isn't a smart thing to do. Once taken out, the posts could become tainted with a bacteria that you wouldn't want festering in your ear. Wiping with a paper towel gives you a nice fuzzy warm feeling but does nothing to sanitize them. No, ear cleaning stuff won't work if you are talking about the stuff that you put in your ear to remove ear wax. Get some alcohol or a sterilizing agent made for earring and use it. You won't regret it.

Dip them in the medicine alcohol. Sometimes if you don't clean them you'll get an infection. Wiping them with a paper towel might not work as well as really cleaning them. It happened to me once it did not go well. Trust me. Sometimes you'll have to clean your ears with alcohol. It helps a lot

There are germs on your ears, as bacteria travels in the air. You don't have to like clean them every day, but every few weeks should be okay. You can get cleaning stuff, at a ear piercing place at the mall pretty cheap. You should clean the earrings while they are on your ears, as you wear them every few weeks because your ear needs to be cleaned as well, and the bacteria on earrings can cause infections if you don't clean them every once and a while. Hope that helps! ;)

I would clean them!! It is much better to be safe than sorry. It is cheaper to wipe them or dip them in alcohol than to treat an infection.

I have never cleaned an earing and have never had a problem. Seems uneccesary to me unles you are opening up a closed hole.
