...society tolerates some of the most unthinkable acts of violence, immorality and perversion? If you can tolerate abortion, homosexuality, prostitution, occult, openly displayed sensuality and pornography why then is society so actively against Christianity?
Why not tolerate them? Don't tell me Christians are tolerated. Just open up a few questions and posts on Y/A and notice the hatred and vile attacks on Christians who have something to say. You speak of freedom of speech, but you want Christians to have no freedom when they were the founders and endorsers of this very concept.

For those who decide to attack me openly or privately, thank you ahead of time for proving my point.

The topic on hand is tolerance, it is not whether it is right or wrong what anyone believes. The point is the inconsistancy of this concept tolerance or is it just the false assumption that tolerance is universal when it's only for a select few?

Dude......You rock!!!! I love you maaaaannnnnnnnn. :D
I was thinking the exact same thing. God bless you, God bless you, God bless you. Finally someone sees the truth. MUAH!!!
For those who say Christians have committed more crimes really have no clue to the truth. As soon as God was being taken out of the mix, all hell broke loose in society, literally. There's 3 sides to every story, your way, my way and the truth. Know it and it shall set us free.
SWEET N' SOUR, YOU ARE DEFINATELY SWEET IN MY BOOK. xoxox

You didn't mention that those same people who want freedom of speech for themselves only are the ones standing behind the rights of terrorists. How can a homosexual man choose to suppress the Christian (for saying that homosexuality is sin) and support the Muslim (who believes all homosexuals should be murdered)? How does a woman choose to suppress the Christian (for saying abortion is murder) and support the Muslim (who says that women must not show any skin at all, who says that a woman cannot be raped unless 4 or more men were present to testify that it was rape)? How can an atheist suppress the Christian (for trying to talk about belief in God) and support the Muslim (who believes that all who don't believe must either be murdered or forced to pay taxes to the Muslim leader)? How does an American suppress the Christian (for using her right to free speech) and support the Muslim (who believes that the word of a religious leader is law)?
The only answer I can give you is that those people cannot see the relationship between cause and effect. They have no logical reasoning skills. As the saying goes, they are willing to cut off their nose just to spite their face.

The reason is that a lot of christians are very unlike Christ. They are extreemly religious and are very materialistic.
The reason that a lot of people dont like christians is purely that some (not all) tell people that they are loving and kind and yet show som much hate to everyone not like them.
Jesus said that the world would know christians because of the love they have for each other.
The evangelical worldview comes outside of this.

Dear brother,
We live in a world that is under the control of the prince of the air, and that is Satan. As Christians we are from the world but not of the world. We know that the world Hates Christ, so its natural for them to hate believers. The Bible says that there would come a time when the world would call good evil and evil good. And that they would kill Christians and think they were doing you a favor. But fret not...my brother in Christ. We win in the end.

Damn well first off, you shouldn't judge just what a few people put on a forum...isn't that a bit....how to say....immature? But all those things are not tolerated...but occultism is more than likely (in Christian eyes) other forms of religion...and 'society' is not "so actively against Christianity." But Christianity is against 'society.' Oh and we don't accept them when they start trying to change our laws and what not...

I would rather have them use their energy studying Christianity for whatever purpose than ignoring it... Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing the word of God...
I don't mind that they don't tolerate it... Jesus said there'd be people like that...

have you ever had a homosexual, or a prostitute, or a drug dealer, or a woman who has chosen abortion force their beliefs or way of living on you, christian? Or are they open minded enough to realize that many people walk many paths of life. Maybe if christians were more open minded and less obsessed with "saving" everyone then there may be more acceptance of them. I hate it when people think i have need to be saved, and ask what would jeasus do?

You know, it would be easy to tolerate christians if they kept their religion to themselves and respected other peoples' right to beliefs different from their own. You don't see Hindus, Muslims, Jews or Pagans out there trying to force people to convert to their beliefs. I think that proselytising and missionaries should be made illegal. It is a form of harassment and should be subject to and punishable by the same laws as harassment of any other sort.

1) i only think abortion is right in rape circumstances or one where the child would be brought into an abusive or loveless relationship
2)whats wrong with gays, its only in holy books as wrong, no one else has a problem with it, and if you where gay would you say that no
3) i think prostitution is wrong in a lot of ways and i think we need to do more about it, but it normally fuels these people's drug habbits so lets do something about that shall we
4)the occult, thats fine if it doesn't affect me
5)sensuality we all have feelings nothing special
6) porn does quite a lot for the economy, they are consenting adults doing it and buying it, if it was forced on people i'd object but it isn't so i don't
as for christainity not being tolerated, maybe maybe not you've made your mind up but where i live if you walk up the street, there is a methodist church, then another methodist church, then a evangelical chapel then a catholic church then a church of england church all with in 1 mile of each other, seems pretty tolerated to me.
and i don't mind these churches being there you are more than welcome to your faith, but if you try and ram it down my neck i'll take issuse with it.
christanity didn't come up with freedom of speech thats politics not religon

hey fate,
this is not the inquisition, last time I checked, its the 21 century!! most Christians do not act like they are better than thou or go around with whacking peoples heads off for
believing in something other than their religious dogma. In fact,
don't see Christians of any kind blowing themselves up with
bomb belts screaming gods name. Maybe more research into what our religion is about than liberal, Internet, third world brain washing!!
P.S. Allison, can we say Al Qaeda, not sure if u have heard of them, their motto, believe in them or die!! DUMB!!

Not that I or any other atheist would be FOR all those things, but I hardly think you are the one to be throwing stones when it comes to such intolerance. How can you, a fundie Christian, maintain any credibility at all when you accuse non-believers of being intolerant of gays, abortion, prostitution, the occult, and pornography,
But you do love the whole persecution role, don't you? You can post here as well as anyone else. You can expect argument, too. "Vile attacks?" Well, that's a matter of opinion. Do you consider this an attack? "No freedom?" What freedoms are you being denied here? Now, did you have something you wanted to say, or did you just want to vent a little?
