That is a Yes and No question. The religion of Buddhism does not concieve of any one god or supreme diety. The idea of there being a "God" is realy a construct of western cultural development as well as an idea based on Impericial thinking which is the form of thinking in the west whereas in the East it is non imperic. Also the idea of a "God" is largely a product of western dualist schools of thought. So to answer youre question the existence of a supreme god in Buddhism is inconcievable . Regarding Buddha the answer is yes, we do, he was an Indian prince who renoounced the world to find enlightenment and to escape the cycle of Samsara. (Birth and Rebirth)

Buddhist don't believe anyone is God and worship no one as a God and most especially not Buddha who made it quite clear he was just a man. God in the view of Buddhist is not within the scope of our comprehension and provided us as humans all we need in this experience to be moral, righteous and humble with no addition influence from anything. The fat Chinese guy is the Chinese representation of the Buddha as they would naturally assume him to look like being chinese.

The Buddha never spoke about God due to the fact that when one speaks of God it brings the person that is listening right into their "idea" of God. Once an "idea of God is present there can be no true understanding. He taught methods to be used to Experience God. His basic premise was that God is present between the dualities, or that mind is trying to find, explain God and the mind itself is in the way.

Buddhists honor the man named Buddha. They don't worship him as a "God", but respect him & his teachings. We respect & honor that he as a regular person like you & I was able to reach enlightenment... that means if he could do it, so could you or I.

The "fat little man" you often see is often a representation of "Ho-Ti" the laughing god, from Japan... he is not Buddha, but a lot of people think he is.

Yes, Buddha was born in India, and was originally Hindu.

Actually they don't believe in a god at all.

Bhudda is the name for a teacher of the doctrine.

PS: Nice to see the Christians claiming they believe in a false god, when bhuddists have no gods, just paths in life

Buddhists do not believe in a God as supreme deity. However, there are many types of Buddhists. Mostly they believe in nothing, they seek enlightenment.....they seek to experience the "higher self" or them self as "transcendental beings" or the truth of their being.

Bhuddists pray to Buddha. Buddha is Indian and he is not a "fat Chinese guy".
