Considering the fact that no religion can be "proven" flawed or false, the question is moot.

We should use our logic, and keep looking for the truth. As an atheist rejects God, because he thinks the existence of God cannot be proven, what he is doing is using logic. And that is the right thing to do.
If however, a person finds the religion he has followed all his life is false,he should not stop there and then, he should carry on the quest of truth. It's not the matter of benefit or harm, because if there is no God, there is nothing to worry about, but if there is, He must be more loving and forgiving than a mother.

If it's true for that person, they won't accept that it's false.
If they accept that it's not true for them anymore, it's spiritual backpedaling to keep on with it. But it's a judgement call whether that is a harm.
Benefits would only include being accepted by other followers, but that isn't necessarily a spiritual growth experience.
Not a likely scenario, either way, since no religion is "proven" flawed or false except in the mind of the person following it.

Well this is a question I can answer. The bible canNOT be proven false. Not even one tiny thing. Many have tried, none have been able. Everything that was in the bible has come true. 100% EVERYTHING.
So, I really don't have to worry about that. But if something COULD be proven...it'd very well make me stop and reconsider. But, I have 100% confidence in God, and I know He's a true and loving and living God. I don't doubt Him.

Well I am an Athiest and I think it's great if some people have their religious beliefs. It doesn't work for me, personally, but more power to you if you do.
I think religion helps people feel safe, gives them hope etc.
I just think when you get too into it and completely stop living your life for yourself at all and "give everything to god" instead of try to find answers for yourself, that's when I see a problem.

That would really depend on the belief. If it is one of the main princples of the religion then you would have a major problem, but as there has always been different ways of understanding each religion, as long as you stay within your texts that each one uses to interpret the events in the world you shouldn't have a problem

You'll have to ask the Mormons and Scientologists.
Mormons: the people of America aren't descended from a "lost tribe of Israel."
Scientologists: Flying billions of people to Earth from other planets in DC-8 airplanes, stacking them around volcanoes, blowing them up, then brainwashing the ghosts. What's up with that?
