I know this is pretty stupid, but i was wondering, if a Mormon family asks you to go swimming with them. Are you supposed to wear a one piece suit or could you wear a two piece suit.
This isn't anything against any religion, i was just wondering.

They don't expect you to live their standards, so don't worry that you have to buy a new swimsuit just to go with them. I think it's really nice that you are trying to be considerate of their feelings and values though. I agree with the person who said the tankini is the best of both worlds. 2 piece, yet modest, and also comfortable for swimming.

You should be fine. For the most part, we're a "you do what you do, we do what we do" society. They shouldn't feel uncomfortable if you wear a 2 piece and I wouldn't go buy a one piece just for the occasion. Understand, however, that if there are young men involved, they would deffinitely be more comfortable with more modesty. You could consider wearing a shirt and shorts until it's time to swim. LDS youth also prefer groups to private settings. This keeps everyone a little more honest and it's easier to resist temptations and impure thoughts. Have fun!

You can wear a two piece swimming suit if you want to. I'm mormon and a bunch of my friends are too and they wear two piece swimming suits. They shouldn't judge you because of what you are wearing. Ask them, their answer will probably be that you wear what you feel comfortable in. They should respect your clothing choices. If you are going to a Mormon swimming thing you may be one of the only ones in a two piece though. :)

I would say that ...

It seems as though you are worried about offending someone. I think it is wonderful that you have enough consideration for others to have this kind of forethought. In most situations like these, the best policy is to discuss your concerns with the person(s) in question.

You might find that they are not worried about your style of bathing suit as much as you worry, and that wearing a two-piece will be just fine. Conversely, you might also find that they appreciate your concern, and would prefer you to wear a one-piece. But the key is that you will never know for sure how they will feel, unless you ask. And there is the possibility that if you don't ask, you will go swimming with them, and your unanswered concern over offending them might dampen your fun.

Whatever you do, I think your best bet is to ask them.

Also keep in mind, that when asking these types of questions, don't let anyone supersede your values with their own (or lack thereof). I don't think you will run into this type of extreme in this particular situation, but in the future you might, so just be careful.

Wear whatever you choose. However, I can almost guarantee you that the girls of the family will be in very modest 1-piece suits. Go comfortable for you. I'm LDS, and think you might be more comfortable in a 1 piece.

Wear a one piece for swimming with any conservative religious family. We're not Mormon- but one piece swimsuits are the rule in our home!

Wear something tasteful. As someone who is LDS, and has been swimming many many times with friends who are LDS--a tankini can be more modest than a one piece. String bikini, probably not appropriate, but if you wore a bikini with board shorts? That would be fine.

We believe in being modest and that is the reason 2 piece swimsuits are looked down upon. I can not tell you whether your friend would take offense or not I would ask them to be sure.

Just don' wear someting that's going to fall off.

A two piece is fine, as long as it keeps covered the parts that are supposed to be covered.
