Swimmers Ear (otitis externa) is an infection of the ear canal. People who are more likely to develop Swimmers Ear include people who:
1) Have skin conditions such as eczema and seborrhea
2) Suffer trauma to the ear canal, usually when trying to clean the ear with a cotton swab or other instrument
3) Have small ear canals that do not drain well enough on their own
4) Have drainage of pus from chronic middle ear infections with perforation of the eardrum
5) Frequently use earplugs or hairspray
6) Frequently get water in their ears from showers or baths
To prevent it in future you should insert cotton balls lightly coated with vaseline into each ear when you shower to keep water out. If water still gets in, thoroughly dry each ear by turning your head to one side and pulling the earlobe in different directions to help drain the water. Use a soft towel and dry only the external portion of the ear. Never use cotton swabs to dry or clean the canal as they can cause trauma and also push wax back in, behind which water can get trapped.
When you swim you should use earplugs that are designed specifically to keep water out because water gets trapped behind most earplugs. They also tend to push wax back into your ear canal. If you do not want to wear plugs designed for swimmers, you can make your own preventive eardrops by mixing equal parts white vinegar and rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol. The vinegar restores the natural acidity of the ear canal, making it less susceptible to infection while the alcohol dries out the ear. Use three to four drops in each ear after swimming.

Make this mixture and flush out your ears EVERY TIME YOU FINISH SWIMMING.
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup vinegar-this corrects the chemical balance.
1/3 cup alcohol.-this evaporates the water
My Husband was a scuba diver for quite a while and got a lot of ear infections. The Ear specialist gave him this solution and it solved the problem.

Do you smoke? That increases the incidence of ear infections for you and your children. Oddly enough, the AJM (American Journal of Medicine) had an abstract within the last year that stated that - if your maternal grandmother smoked while pregnant, it would increase your susceptibility to ear infections. Weird huh? Look it up.

I think there's some sort of ear drop you can get to help you. You should go to your pharmacist or doctor for more information.
