I believe he only relieved two of duty while he was assigned as Supreme Commander of Allied Force In Europe. One was General George Patton, following the famous "soldier slapping" incident during the Sicily campaign. The other had a case of "motor mouth" at a club on the even of the launching of Operation Overlord (the Normandy Peninsula landings). That particular general gave away vital information concerning the timing of the operation. Ike relieved him and sent him home, stripped of his "theater" rank of Brigadier General. He went home a Major. Sorry, I can't recall his name, but the incident is portrayed in the History Channel docudrama on Ike which starred Tom Selleck in the title role.
