We will be staying in the Borris area of Carlow next month for about a week and would appreciate some tips on where to go for some, not too expensive, meals.

In Kilkenny try Lautrecs, The Italian Connection ( which also has a branch in Carlow), Pearls Chinese Restaurant, The Ming Court and for pub grub try Paris Texas or Rafter Dempsey's.

In Carlow the restaurant in the Dolmen Hotel is quite good. Enjoy your stay.

Kilkenny:
-Paris Texas
-Italian Connection
both are popular, not too expensive and located in the city centre

Carlow:
-Kylemore Restaurant
-Road House Cafe
-O' Brien's Sandwich Bar
these are in the town centre so they're not hard to find. all inexpensive but decent places to eat

you should also try any of the local pubs as they offer a good selection at reasonable prices for lunchtime...have a good trip =)

Generally your best bet are pubs that also do meals, can be a lot better value than restaurants, and the food is just as good.

I would advise you to ask the locals once you're there, they would be able to advise you.
