I have gone by dealerships and seen colors on cars that arent shown as an option for purchase from the companys web site. How do you get a custom paint job from the manufacturer? Is that even possible? For example, I want a hot pink xterra. Would I have to go to a custom paint place, or can I request it form the manufacturer? How much do you think it would cost to paint one hot pink??

You will have to go the custom route in order to get that color. Plymouth had a hot pink color in the 70's called mulon rouge It is a special mixture and not cheap but can be done.

Most manufacturers don't do the custom color routine any more. However, any dealer can arrange pretty much any customization that you want. You'd have to buy the vehicle first especially if it's an "odd" color like hot pink and probably pay in advance for the paint job but anything is possible for the right amount of money. Expect to pay $3k - $5k at least for a quality paint job including inner fenders, door jambs, under hood, etc.

Any decent body shop could also do the job and the better ones will guarantee the job for as long as you own the vehicle. Since you'd be cutting out the middle man (the dealer) you might get a better job for a bit less money as well that way.

Do keep one thing in mind, though. Although you may love it, you may have a very hard time getting rid of it at trade-in time. Most dealers would factor in the cost of a re-spray in the trade-in offer and that will significantly affect what you'll get for it.

The car dealerships try to stay away from outlandish colors like hot pink, orange, and yellow because people do not generally flock to the dealership to get those colors. If you want a custom painted one you can try to find one at the dealership in the color you want which will be hard or you can buy the car and custom paint it yourself. You can get a bargain paint job for under $1000 at a place like Maaco but why would you want to do that to a new car? A custom paint job can cost about 3-5 thousand depending on the colors you want, candy paint, pearl shine, etc.

there's a reason custom paint artwork is expensive. because of the fact it is not elementary to do. It takes greater suitable than a pair of YOUTUBE movies and a twig gun. in spite of in case you had a compressor sufficiently massive to artwork a twig gun and prepped the vehicle properly, there are various different components that come into play. Like air rigidity, temperature, distance from the panel, how briskly you progression the gun, not fanning the gun, having the flexibility to spray a steel without tiger stripes or modelling. Then there is having a community to paint the vehicle in. Doing it in a house storage is going to make it stink for weeks. Plus without suited air stream, the overspray will linger too long. it somewhat is relatively undesirable while it includes the sparkling coat because of the fact that's going to easily settle returned directly to the vehicle making it look uninteresting. And in case you do get the air shifting, then you definately could worry approximately airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust getting in the moist paint. yet all isn't lost and there are how you will get an excellent durable end that may not too high priced. One area that expenditures an excellent variety of money is the prep artwork. Doing maximum of this your self will save approximately 0.5 of the fee of a paint interest. get rid of as a lot trim as you may. this would be belt moldings, door handles, mirrors, locks, call plates and so on. there's a lifting tape made for windshield moldings so don't fret approximately those. if your doing a shade replace, you will prefer to get rid of the door seals and jamb seals. Then sparkling the vehicle thoroughly with cleansing soap and water. Then a wax and grease remover. Then sand the vehicle with 4 hundred grit moist or dry paper with soapy water. in case you have a compressor which will run a D.A. then use it with a soft velcro backing and 800 grit. After the entire motor vehicle is sanded, come returned over it with a purple Scotch Brite pad and a scuffing compound. Then wash the vehicle with cleansing soap and water. Then drop it off at a physique save and have them paint it. in spite of if it somewhat is scheduled and you drop it off in the morning, you may have it returned with the help of the tip of the day. this would decrease the fee of refinishing with the help of 0.5. the different determination for a shade replace is having the vehicle wrapped in vinyl. Its high priced, yet you get the custom look without each and every of the hard artwork.
