I have once, but it was only because (sorry if tmi) I was on my period and my husband (boyfriend at the time) wanted to have sex, so I spread one of the handtowels on the bed. It was so messed up, I was ashamed to leave it for housekeeping!

Normally I don't steal towels though, because the type of motels/hotels I can afford on my tight budget don't buy the good towels. If I wanted to dry off with sandpaper, I'd go buy some--not steal it from the local Motel 6, lol.

At most hotels, the towels are okay, but far from anything worth stealing. At the fancier hotels (e.g., Ritz Carlton) they list the towel prices and terry cloth robe prices on the door and you are welcome to take them and get "automatically" charged those prices. (Hint, they're not worth the prices listed, unless you want the hotel name as a novelty.)

You aren't stealing the soaps and shampoos either. The cost is already built into your room price, so you are perfectly entitled to stash them away each night and get new ones in the morning, then go home with a stashload of mini soaps and shampoos.

For me, the best is the cute little Heinz ketchup bottles they give you with room service. ;-)

no, why would i want to steal cheap reused towels or steal anything for that matter? you didnt buy the hotel, you just paid for using its facilities. i mean, you might as well steal the bed and the tv from the room.

No I don't want to keep towels that have been used on thousands of other people.

I sure do take all the little bottles of soap, shampoo, and conditioner - oh and the note pad and pen they provide in you room!

No, not only is it proper etiquette but it is unethical as well. Besides, the hotels I can afford don't usually the the really nice fluffy ones anyway!

Nope. Never. Usually when I travel, I barely have enough room for the things I brought from home + the things I bought while out shopping! :-)

taking the towels is stealing so I leave them be. If they have nice hand lotion, shampoo, conditioner etc.... what ever we don't use or use up will follow us home.
