When I'm at work in the Gulf of Mexico, I fish on the top for shark and amberjack. I use either a hardtail or a piece of old steak. I fish on the bottom for red snapper, vermillion snapper, and grouper(or whatever bites). I use squid, shrimp, or cut hardtail.
When I'm at home I fish for just about anything in the water.
bluegill-worms or crickets or a bream killer
catfish-cold worms on the rod, chicken hearts, or shad on trotline
bass-spinnerbaits, crank baits, worms, just whatever works
barfish(white bass)-kastmaster or small spinnerbait
speckled trout-live shrimp, cocahoe minnows, soft plastics
redfish-dead shrimp on a jighead, soft plastics, minnows, mullet, crab
sheepshead-dead shrimp on a jighead or tightlined
I guess that just about covers it. Now, sir, what do you fish for and what's your most effective bait/lure?

I fish the Great Lakes, so can catch just about any freshwater fish, from smelt to sturgeon. I usually fish for walleye, pike, or bass. I use a line with a shiner under a bobber, and cast another, with a minnow type lure, like a countdown rapala or a long A bomber. Pike, bass, and walleye all hit them.

Mostly bluegill, smallmouth and catfish.
We do very well just using slip-bobbers and either crawlers or leaf worms.
She prefers pieces of crawler; I just go with the leaf worms.
A lot of tourists around here fish hard for bass and walleye, using crankbaits, but we do just great with a canoe and simple tackle.

I fish for LOTS of things but my favorite is Steelhead and my favorite method is drifting a roe sack from the bank.
I also have my favorite plug. Hot-n-Tot in chartreuse and silver. That plug will catch anything!
