The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints claims to be the only true and correct Church of Jesus Christ because of the restoration of the priesthood authority given to Joseph Smith from heavenly messengers in 1829. Joseph was visited by God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ in 1820. He was visited by an angel named Moroni in 1823, 1824, 1825, 1826 and 1827 culminating in the delivery of the plates containing the record that came to be known as The Book of Mormon. Moroni was the person that finished the record and deposited the plates in the earth where they were shown to Joseph. Mormon was Moroni's father who edited most of the record before turning it over to Moroni. Joseph was subsequently visited by John the Baptist in 1829 and received the Aaronic or Levitical Priesthood from him in accompaniment with Oliver Cowdery. Later that same year, Joseph and Oliver were visited by Peter, James and John, the Lord's apostles, and received the higher or Melchizedek Priesthood from them. Latter, Joseph was visited by Moses, Elijah and others from ancient times restoring to Joseph the keys or authority to gather Israel, seal on earth and in heaven and to carry forth the Kingdom of God on the Earth according to Jesus' instructions.
It is this direct, divine authority that gives us the claim of being The Church of Jesus Christ. No other denomination has such a claim to divine authority. Only the Catholic Church can come close with their claim of continuing authority from Peter. However, the apostolic authority was lost when the apostles were all killed without being able to ordain successors to that quorum. The altering of doctrines over the centuries by the church people is clear evidence of the apostacy of that church from the truths of the apostles as predicted. A restoration of all things was necessary and predicted. The restoration via Joseph Smith fulfilled the prophecies concerning the restoration of all things. It is our mandate from God to spread the Gospel throughout the world both for the living and the dead. All His children will hear the message and will choose to accept it or not. All will bow the knee and confess Jesus as their Lord. It is a great undertaking but one that we embrace and endeavor to accomplish. Nowhere else will you find the answers to all your questions. The fulness of the Gospel is present. We have the whole package.
I know that in stating this, I have probably alienated many of the readers but I declare it to be true and do so in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

They're incorrect because they dont have the direct authority from God to exist. The Mormon church was founded by God and the keys were restored to the Prophet Joseph Smith to carry on the correct church in this dispensation. No other Church has modern Revelation and Prophets and apostles. Another reason is the coming of the Book of Mormon, "the most correct book ". If you'd like to learn more go to lds.org

Religion was devised to control the minds of people. Churches make more money, and create more jobs than any business. They keep more people off the streets, too. Religious leaders have all that power, and control over their congregations. You should avoid any religion that states their way is the only way and all others are either evil or going to hell (or its equivalent). Religion was created by man, not God. Man translated relgious texts. Ask an honest student of theology.

Dear S: You would to have to be on crack to subscribe to mormonism, although many do even without touching the stuff.
Mormonism is a false cult begun by some guy by the name of Joseph Smith who lived in the 1800's in upstate NY and would make money by fortune telling with the use of a couple of amber stones. In time he began to tell people that he had been visited by the angel "moroni" and so obtained a "further" revelation from God. The problem is that his teachings contradict the Bible and even substitute it by the use of the book of mormon. Basically it tells us that God is just an exalted being and that he had sex with the virgin Mary so that Jesus could be born. Also, you can have your own planet and women are completely subservient to men.
This, dude, is the short and long of it.
Mr. M on "mormanism."
P.s. I refuse to capitalize pagan names.

The problem with religion is that in order to believe in one, you have to believe that a majority of the world is wrong and are not going to heaven or being reincarnated as a slug, or will never find enlightenment.

Religion is a pretty pompous way to go about life.

It depends on your beliefs. Everyone think everyone is wrong-so be it! just believe what you feel is right, and do not worry of others all they do is try to brainwash you and say their religion is this or their religion is that-Forget it and do your own thing words of advice-Don't believe nothing until it is proved.
