Just making fun of the same question being asked every day here. Why is Nascar a sport.

Because Nascar drivers arent the greedy oppurtunists who seem to abound in every other sport?

They can't go on strike because NASCAR will just find someone else to drive the cars like they did at Talladega in 1968 when King Richard got some other drivers to sit the race out because they said it was unsafe. Bill France Sr. ran the race anyway, effectively ending the attempted drivers union that Petty had formed. I hate to get all serious (it's been so fun today) but if drivers don't like NASCAR they can find any of a number of different racing series to race in if they want to (and I sure wish Stewart would).

Because NASCAR basically has an unlimited supply of cash

because they arent as greedy as people like terrel owens who have millions and demand more.

they also can do the same sport for a much longer time span than that of a football player.

theres much much more to nascar than going around a track turning left. theres a highly skilled technique to turning while keeping the speed and not ramming into the wall and killing yourself.

Maybe the drivers are in it because they love to race. Maybe it's because NASCAR is a family oriented event.

Maybe it's because the drivers aren't sniveling, whiny, cry babies like the ball players are. Either way, IT'S GOOD TO BE A FAN!!!

I think they are more like independent contractors . They earn alot more of a share of the money than in other sports.

each individual driver works out his own contract and unlike the other pro's (which are just games not sports)
there job depends on thier performance the better they do the longer contracts they get the more sponsors that are availible to them and the more endorsements they get

pb&j we here at nascar want to send juan pablo montoya back to f1 and your real sport please get him on the way out of this room

The drivers aren't part of a union and are hired as private contractors too there individual teams and are not direct employees of NASCAR.

Shoot they dont need any more money. Besides if they went on strike they would have a whole lot of pi$$ed off fans, and they dont want a really pi$$ed off redneck after them. I can say that cause I is from Kentucky!!!!!!!

They get payed a lot. In some races the person who finishes last gets $50 000. Most people are lucky if they earn that in a year.
