Each church has different qualifications but most do require that the Preacher be ordained. This requires extensive study & passing a test to verify that the guy knows what he's talking about. As for pay, that is determined by the size of the church. Obviously, a Preacher who is over a church of 100 will be paid less than a Preacher who is over a church of 1000 since his salary is based on a percentage of the tithes.

By "the South", I assume you're referring to the Southern United States (this is a worldwide audience you're talking to). Anyway, I live in the Southern U.S. and it would totally depend upon what sort of church you're pastoring. For certain types of Protestant churches, the only requirement is that you're legally ordained. Of course, to pastor any church, you'll have to be legally ordained. But being the pastor of a tiny rural church with 20 people is very different than, say, being the rector of a very large urban Episcopal church with thousands of members, or pastoring some kind of huge megachurch. In other words, it depends. In some churches, you'll be required to spend years in seminary before you can get ordained, whereas in others, you just have to prove that you've been ordained somewhere and got it legalized at the courthouse. Some churches do not pay their clergy a dime, and the pastors are expected to hold jobs outside of the church. Other churches support their clergy financially, but despite wealthy pastors you might see on TV, it's actually fairly rare for someone to get rich off of a preacher's salary.

I live in Texas.
All I could find was youth pastor but if you see their salaries, it might help figure out what pastors get paid. I know a worship leader at my church. He got paid a 6figure salary.

No qualifications and it depends on how generous your congregation is.
