Christianity started in Jerusalem. Through the apostles it made it through the Jewish nation. Paul preached the message of Christ to the Gentiles covering the Mediterranean and Asia Minor. Finally reaching Rome it was not accepted by the Roman government. They were murdered and fed to the lions in the Colosseum. This greatly hindered the spreading of the Christian faith. But emperor Constantine converted to Christianity, making the spread of Christianity much easier. As time went on the establishment of different churches made it even easier to spread. But Catholicism was the dominant belief. When the protestant reformation came, most of the Catholic dominated countries did not like it. When protestants suffered persecution from the Catholic church then they went to the one country that wasn't quite Catholic: England. From there they saw that England wasn't all that it was cracked up to be and left for America. That I know isn't everything, but it is how it came to America.

"Religion is the opium of the masses" according to Groucho Marx. Religion has always played a significant role in China. The majority of Chinese people have some level interest in eastern religions, especially Buddhism. Buddhist temples are found throughout China, many homes and businesses have small Buddhist shrines, and Buddhist weddings and funerals are common. Christianity is the problem, not religion. Christianity was introduced to China in the 1800s by foreign imperialists for the purpose of confusing and subjugating the Chinese people. Get rid of the Christian missionaries and God will be happy.

Sammy,
It spread like the plague. CHRIST was murdered, arose from the dead, visited the Apostles, was taken into heaven and the Apostles spread HIS MESSAGE (the gospel). The Good News was spread by the saved world-wide even in the face of the Roman killers they spread it to others. We are to do the same. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

besides the missionary work done by christian monks who went all over the world to spread the word, the religion spread
through the absorption and supression of other religions, including plunging europe into the dark ages go prevent people from reading and learning the different philosophies of the ancient world, while giving the priests that were the only people who could read, the power to be the administrators. by burning the libraries of alexandria and other places in order to anihilate old knowledge, through spreading fear of the devil and through political manipulation, war, inquisition and forced conversion.

I guess we can give some credit to early people like Paul for going out and convereting people. However, the main person who brought it about is Constatine. There is also a long history of divisions, for example Constatine over in Byzantium became the orthodox religions, Rome, Catholicism, and then in the 1600's, Prodatinism came about.

Initially, it was spread via martyrs - when people saw that others were willing to DIE for what they beleived, others joined the cause...
Once enough people had joined the cause, Christianity was spread by the sword, via 14 separate Crusades over a period of about 900 years. It was spread to the Americas via violence and the destruction of the native cultures.

Christianity is ever evolving according to God's will.
If it is God's will it will increse; if not it will decrease.
Today, there are about 2.5 billion Christians and the next largest religion of Islam has only about 1.2 billion; old Judaism is about gone now with about 12 million or less who still believe in God.
Jesus Christ Who is fully here in Spirit as He the Spirit of Truth is the Real Energizer of all sincere Truth-lovers. He is also our True Creator Father of this universe and you and me and all humans and countless other higher Beings here.
see John 16:7-6 John ch 1 Heb ch1 Jesus made the worlds
(plural in the better Bibles, not just "world" singular)

Through War and torture. Look up the "Spanish inquisition" for example. All was to prove that Christianity dominates and everyone else is wrong-which is not true, but it spread by FORCE just like every other mainstream Religion all to prove that one religion was better than the other.
