Would you be following your own rule of lying/truth if you said "This is the door to heaven?"

If the truthful one is in front of Heaven's door, he'll say "yes." (Because it IS the door to Heaven and saying so IS the truth. He WOULD be following his rule and will answer you "yes.")

If the liar is in front of the door to Heaven he'll also say "yes." The logic here is: If he said "this is the door to Heaven" that would be the truth. Therefore he would NOT be following his rule and the real answer to YOUR question is "no." But, since he has to lie, he'll say "yes."

The reverse also works. If the Truthful angel is in front of Hell's door, and said "this is the door to Heaven" he would be lying and NOT following his rule. He will tell so and answer "no."

If the liar is in front of Hell's door and said "this is the door to Heaven" it would be a lie. He WOULD be following his rule. But, since he has to lie, he will say "no."

The bottom line: It doesn't matter which one you ask, if he says "yes" go through his door. If he says "no" go through the other.

Confusing, I know, but it works.

You woudl ask 1 angel, what will the other angel say if i ask him which door to take?
Let's suppose, you ask this to the liar, and heaven is behind the right door, which is guarded by the liar. Then, the liar will tell you to take the door behind teh truthful angel. The wrong door.
And if you ask it to the truthful angel, it will say, the door behidn the truthful angel, or itself. The wrong door.
So you would ask, what door will the other angel tell me to take, adn you woudl just avoid that door.

You ask, "Which door would the other angel say leads to heaven?" and you take the opposite one from the one they tell you.
