Just organize everybody from tall to short, like those old group pictures at school. Now for the camera:

If it is a film camera, try to use a 35 mm SLR (or better yet Medium format) to have better resolution. Use a good lens.

If it is a digital camera, make sure resolution is above 5 MP so everyone can recognize themselves when you make a large print. If you are going to enlarge it a lot, make sure to use at least an 8MP camera or better. Also, try to use cameras with good optics such as a DSLR (the bigger the lense diameter the better, usually). Leave enough space on the edges because sometimes at studios they crop the picture before they make a print. You don't want to leave someone cut in half or outside! Good luck!

Are you taking a picture with all of them in it together? If so, stand on something, like a stool, that's not much higher than your shortest person. If you want to do a classic pic, have the tallest people in back and shortest in front, kneeling. If you wanna get creative, arrange people of different heights around each other. Have people in different, relaxed positions instead of just standing. Have some upfront kneeling and sitting. Maybe some sisters holding little brothers in arms or sitting and holding them in laps. Have some people (obviously family members) leaning on each other or with their arms on each other. Some people with one knee up and one knee on the ground. Maybe some even sitting in chairs. The key is just posing them differently but in a way that doesn't look like it needs to be a bunch of smaller pictures.

If you're just taking shots of whoever, candid is the best. Be as quiet as you can so that people don't realize you're there. Don't always have them pose. Go for where the action is, where the people are acting silly and doing something, not just sitting around talking. I mean, take a few of those too, just not to many. Be ready to take pictures at all times, and be ready to takes lots. Make sure you have extra rolls of film or digital chips, and lots of charged batteries. Good luck and have fun!

Use large format. A 200 person shot on 35mm or digital SLR will have a sea of almost unrecognizable faces.

You will need good lighting (an on-board flash will not cut it) and you will need to be elevated to get everyone in. Pack them close together and good luck.

Use a wide lens or you'll have to stand really far away. Take the photo from a higher elevation looking down and across so you see everyone.
