Your speed is a little over 1 MB/s. That's really not bad, 8 MB/s is your maximum speed, but it's nearly impossible to get to the maximum due to all the internet traffic going around.

You have 1.911 Mbps. Your ISP offers *up to* 8 Mbps, usually they specify the minimum "in small print" of 1.5 Mbps. Check your ISP agreement for a minimum rate.

Broadband delivered over DSL or a cable modem are best effort services for about $45/month and depend upon the number of users and distance of cable for your exact speed. For business you can request a dedicated service of T1 (1.544 Mbps) or SHDSL (2.3 Mbps) or 2xSHDSL (4.6 Mbps) for about $500/month.

Try the speed test below -- this will show your speed and what speed other customers with your service provider are getting.

(Nice tie).

You are running at 1.9 megs. If you are paying for 8, call your ISP and have them reset your modem. I had to do this a few weeks ago when my modem was running VERY slow.

1 Byte (B) is equal to 8 bits (b) so your speed is 1911kbps (kilobits per second) divided by 8 which gives us 238 (rounded down) which means 238 KBps (Kilebytes per second).

1 megabit is 1024 kilobits so 8 megabits is 8191 kilobits or 1megabyte (MB) per second.
