Gee let me tell you a story. I go to Wally World to shop (it is the closest department store in our area) and the first couple of times I shopped there I got a cashier who would ask, "how are you today" to which I reply "fine, nobady really wants to hear anyone complain." She then states, " the devil loves to hear people complain!" I finished my shop and left, feeling very "bothered".

I'm not Christian, I don't believe in the devil and I find this statement disturbing, so much so that I make sure not to go to her line anymore. Why I feel like this is easy. She has the safety of numbers of Christians to come to her aid if I complain, but because I'm a Pagan and a Witch I'm not guaranteed any protection from the retribution of these loving people. I live in a very remote area and house burnings are a very real problem locally. It is an equal rights thing where my rights are forfeit due to no local Pagan/Witch support!

So, Goddess love America!

I don't think you would get fired, but it might make the customer feel a little odd. What's wrong with just saying "Have a nice day"?

Possibly. Many people are uncomfortable when people make statements like that (I sometimes am). And many people don't think it's appropriate, so they may contact your supervisor about it. Just keep in mind that you're a representative of the company you work for, so it's not appropriate to peddle your religious views to customers.

Why not just stick with something like "I hope you have a great day"?

Probably won't get in trouble, but it will make some people uncomfortable or weirded out. It's not the kind of thing you say to people in a server/customer sort of situation.

Well, someone may get really offended. Personally if someone said God Bless You to me I would wonder who sneezed. You may want to just say Godspeed before they leave.

I wouldn't thik so personally. But I guess it'd depend on your customers religious beliefs and whether they felt offended by your comment.

Nope. You have every right to do what you want in public. Now if your boss is a jerk, he also has every right to fire you, if he considers it being discriminatory to his customers. I'd talk to him, as he is well within his rights to fire you for any or no reason, before you do it.

Its according to where you work, I would hate to think that someone could be that petty, but some may be. I think most would be pleased by it, I would any way. Good luck
