believe it or not, science has proven that home made chicken soup really does help the common cold. The warm soup helps ease dry/sore throats and helps un block sinuses in addition to just making you feel better all over. Try "ocean spray" brand saline solution. It's harmelss (sea salt and pure water) available over the counter and helps those nose and sinus problems. For the aches, Vicks dayquill during the day, and once your home for the night and won't be driving, vick nyquill works great too. A hot as you can stand it shower with you just relaxing and breathing the steam works wonders to clear the sinuses and relax achy muscles.
Good luck and I hope you feel better.

My dad always use to make me my favorite tea at night... Recipe: Your favorite tea-flavored, herbal, black-any will work 1 tsp lemon juice or more to taste(preferably fresh) 1 tbsp honey or less or more to taste 1 tbsp crown royal Now assuming that you are of legal age, this is what you do. Brew your hot tea like you nomally would. Add your honey and crown royal first, stirring well. Add the lemon juice last- this is important to add last because it will make the other ingredients harder to stir in otherwise... Drink anytime you want to rest or several times a day for a speedy recovery. The hot tea and honey help to soothe your throat. Also, it is better to sweeten with honey rather than sugar because all of that processed white sugar or sugar substitutes just add more toxins to your body and makes you even sicker or it makes it harder for you to get better. The lemon juice has vitamin C in it which helps your immune system fight the nasties that cause colds. And the crown royal will help you sleep more easily, and soothe your nerves too. My dad used to fix this for me when I was a kid when I was sickly. It wasn't something I had all the time. But even now to this day, this is my remedy for making it through a cold quickly.

Boil some water and put some olbas oil in it and put your head over the bowl with a towel over you this will help clear your nose. Take some cold and flu capsules (beechams are good). Take a good multivit, get plenty of rest and keep warm.
The more you blow your nose the more blocked it becomes as this irritates the lining of the mucosa which in turn causes inflammation and snot production.

Hope you feel better soon, my sympathies to you.

Lots of vitamin C, eat healthily and steam inhalation to help with the blocked nose - preferably with a few drops of eucalyptus oil. This should help ease your breathing. I would avoid decongestants as they can make matters worse and give you a dry throat and eyes. Put also a few drops of eucalyptus oil on an handkerchief and then you can keep putting this to your nose every so often to ease breathing.

Hoope you recover soon.
Best wishes.

I have colds that last for up to 3 weeks!! I find that taking an ibuprofen 3 times a day helps as does drinking fresh orange juice and plenty of water. Also try sweating it out by wrapping up in lots of layers when in bed but remember to drink lots of water or you will become dehydrated. I also put my head over a bowl of hot menthol and inhale.
