My personal opinion is that marijuana is actually far less harmful than cigarettes or alcohol, and can actually be used positively to treat some illnesses and conditions (unlike cigarettes or alcohol), but for some reason I don't understand it is illegal.

I personally don't see a problem with it, but it is against the law.

*shrug* Welcome to the American political system... If we had a huge corporation marketing marijuana that was making financial contributions to the government, perhaps it wouldn't be illegal.

Morally, I see nothing wrong with it.

The issues that I have with it are legal issues. Personally, I feel that it should be legalized, regulated and taxed in the same way that alcohol is. But for now, it IS illegal and I feel that it is immoral to break the laws of my country. Just because I don't agree with a law, does not give me the right to break that law. I can vote for people who feel the same way that I do and try to be a part of the change that I want to see happen. For the record though, I wouldn't smoke it even if it were legal (I also don't drink alcohol).

Marijuana is not immoral...only illegal...well, at least till the feds figure out how to tax the bejeezus out of it and sell it at the corner store.

Alcohol, nicotine, etc are not immoral, none of the Illegal drugs are immoral...it is your actions based upon your belief system that make something immoral and sometimes these substances cause you to lose that inhibition and violate that "morality"
But once you realize that there is no such thing as "sin" (as defined by organized religion) you can strip away that artificial guilt system and not need the substances at all.

+ Marijuana +

Without even considering whether marijuana is unhealthy or not, using illegal drugs is immoral because they are illegal.

Christians reside in their own nations, but as resident aliens. They participate in all things as citizens and endure all things as foreigners. They obey the established laws and their way of life surpasses the laws.

The citizen is obliged in conscience not to follow the directives of civil authorities when they are contrary to the demands of the moral order, to the fundamental rights of persons or the teachings of the Gospel.

We must obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29)

Using illegal drugs for recreational purposes is breaking a law that is not contrary to the demands of the moral order, to the fundamental rights of persons nor the teachings of the Gospel, and is therefore immoral.

+ Medical Marijuana +

To the best of my knowledge the Church has not made a position known on the use of medical marijuana.

The scientific, legal, and philosophical debate is still out on medical marijuana as is shown in the attached documents.

I don't think it is immoral really, but it is a very self centered self absorbed thing to do. Getting high makes most people emotionally stunted and mentally impaired. All of the people who have to interact with the pot smoker have to put up with inconsideration, illogical speak and reasoning, laziness, not to mention that it is illegal and could potentially get non users in trouble with the law. It really isn't okay. If you are wanting to live a spiritual life, it consists of more that traveling to different dimensions (which can be obtained through meditation). To be on your spiritual path means to show up in your life fully conscious for yourself and for the people in your life. It means dealing with and not escaping your issues. It involves learning how to be loving not destructive to the self and others. If you aren't interested in a spiritual life and only interested in partying or fooling yourself into believing that it makes you more creative or open minded then go for it. Really it closes you off to so much and if you do it often enough it becomes your life and most important thing. I hope you choose your spiritual path instead.

Anything that can alter your mind or cause you to make choices that are not normal for you can potentially be bad.
