I am looking for a preschool for my 3yr old. I am looking for something twice a week and around $100 a month. I inquired in the ymca, but they don't have anything developed for the fall yet. Your advice and help would be appreciated.

Call your local elementary school, social service agencies and churches for names of programs to look into. Also find out about Head Start. Apply for it even if you think you won't qualify because Head Start sometimes accept over-income families for a variety of reasons. Call the programs and ask what license they have, what credentials their teachers have, and what curriculum they use. Ask what kind of schedule the children follow and make sure the schedule allows for plenty of free choice time for the children. Try to observe a class in progress, and when you have chosen a program, try to volunteer a little time each month so you can see firsthand what your child is experiencing.

If a local high school has a tech center they might have a preschool as part of a tech program.
