The Bible uses "son" in two different ways.
There are many incidents in which it refers to someone who is the physical offspring (baby) of another person.
It is also referred to one who has been accepted into a position of "sonship". He has been given the rights and privileges of being a member of the family. Including the right to use the family name, power, and authorize.
There is only one person in scripture who is spoken of in BOTH those way. That is the only begotten son of God, Jesus Christ. He is unique that he alone is both a son by physical birth and a son by acceptance.

Many people are called the sons of god in the Bible.
David is called the begotten son of god in the Bible.
Psalms.2:7" I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee."
Acts.13:33"that God has fulfilled this to us their children, having raised up Jesus; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son: this day have I begotten thee."

In the beginning there were also angles on Earth that were the sons of God. They liked the human women and had children with them. (they were he fallen angels, they were giants)

The Bible uses "Son of God" to denote one who is in the image of God--just as when God said "let us make man in our image". We are sons of God, when we accept Christ, because we begin to conform ourselves to His image.
"Firstborn" denotes being a child of priviledge with pre-eminence above all others, such as when it speaks of Christ as being the "firstborn among all creation".

When you get past the linguistical etymology of the phrase "Son of God", it means, basically, God in the flesh. "Son of man" means "God among men".

That's true, but it seems that the disciples interpreted Jesus as the Messiah (the disciples Jesus Himself picked), and Jesus called Himself the Messiah.
