Sorry chica, they won't listen to me any more than they will you. They'll just accuse me of not being a "true Christian."

There is little I can personally do about reactionary, bigoted people who choose to call themselves "Christians", save for attempting to spread that word that not all Christians are like that. Not all Christians are misogynistic, homophobic hatemongers who are threatened by the fact that some people choose to believe differently.
Having said that, though, even though I often sharply disagree with the ultra right-wing Fundamentalist contingent, it's still important for me to extend to them the same freedom of speech that I expect for myself. I simply reserve the right to disagree, and to do so publicly.

That applies to the moderates of any persuasion.
I've wasted some breath appealing to some of the more stupid atheist ranters here more, I suspect, for my peace of mind than their benefit. But I can sleep nights.
The counterploy of the extremists to the moderates is of course: "You're not proper .XXXX. You're compromised and weak, not whole-hearted and committed."

Daughter of Isis, I've been told here that Christians who aren't radical hate-mongers, who do not wave the Bible in everybody's face, who do not want to bring down our Republic and replace it with a theocracy, are as dismayed by the Fundies as you are, as I am, as all normal people are.

Unfortunately, there are people out there who call themselves "Christians," yet live lives that are not very Christ-like. However, Christians are human and as a result they will make mistakes such as judging and condemning others. I just pray that you recognize that, "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven."
