Corporate smoothies like Jamba Juice and Naked Juice are meant to be consumed as a meal replacement; some people use them as a drink along with another meal. This is when smoothies are not good for you.
Also, smoothies with a milk or yogurt base have a lot fewer calories and grams of sugar than smoothies with an apple or mango juice base.

Smoothies are healthy if you blend all the fruits and vegetables together yourself. Fresh fruits and vegetables blended together to make smoothies can provide lots of vitamin, fiber, and all those other minerals that are good for you. To incorporate calcium into these smoothies you might want to add some milk when you make fruit smoothies. I don't suggest you mixing milk into vegetable smoothies or fruit & vegetable smoothies, because milk and veggies don't really mix, and it probably won't taste very good. If you buy smoothies from places like Mr. Smoothie's and Dairy Queen, they're filled with sugar and aren't healthy for you. The only thing they provide in their smoothies that is good for you is calcium, in the milk they have in their smoothies. Hope this helps =)!!

Absolutely - especially if you only include healthy ingredients. As a matter of fact, carrots (and I think apples) are better processed by the body when they are blended (chewing somehow doesn't simulate the blending effect).
But tossing in junk like processed ice cream, peanut butter & sugar would be counterproductive to your health. For that reason, stay away from store-bought smoothies, and whip up your own. =)

Most smoothies contain juice and yogurt that contain a lot of sugar... but then again, fruit itself contains a lot of sugar...
As long as you are taking care to allot for the calories, they are mostly healthy. But drink the smaller size for a snack... don't use them to replace a meal, or worse as a beverage to accompany a meal.

Ya of corse they CAN be healthy for you but it all depends whats in them. A smoothie made with ice, strawberries, bananas, and peaches is very healthy for you. But a smoothie made with like fruit and added sugar isent. It just all depends.

Smoothies are what you put into them, blending them up doesnt make them more or less healthy. If you make a smoothie with ice cream, it isn't going to be as healthy as a smoothie with yogurt and strawberries.
It all depends on what you put into your smoothie

yea smoothies are healthy. they can have a lot of calories but calories from fruits are very easy to burn off. plus they make you feel more alive after eating them. try jamba juice or intajuice. you can get suppluments in them also.

If it's home made and you only put fruit in... yes
If its from D and D's then don't be surprised if they've whipped in a few Boston Creams or Glazed Doughnuts

if its JUST fruit and veggies, yes, its healthy. but if you add yogurt or milk, youre also adding calories and sugars. If you use just ice, then it stays healthy.
