I posted a question once before about finding a dog trainer. I live in Dallas, TX and my dog is kid and dog aggressive. I called Bark Busters, but they are just too expensive for me. I am only 16, I only get paid twice a week and I have to pay for it all on my own. The trainer has to accept payment plans and has to be somewhat affordable. I can not pay $500 to train my dog. I am not going to Petco or Petsmart, they do obedience, that is not what I need. I need to resolve his aggression. If you have a trainer that is really good. Please call and ask if they are in Dallas as well, and if not, ask if they can refer someone who is etc. Thank you in advance.

My dog is very well behaved, and has been since I got him 2 years ago. He listens to me, he sits, stays, comes, lay's down, drops it, leaves it, walks very well on the leash. So, no more obedience training suggestions please.

I know how to train dogs. I used to breed pure bred labs with my mom, I trained them for hunting. So I'm not ignorant.

You are right that you need a dog trainer and not an obedience class for this problem. It is very serious and not easy to resolve. Call your vet or local humane society and see if they can recommend someone else that can help you. That said, this is going to take some time to resolve and it's going to cost some money, maybe more than you can afford. If that is the case, and the dog is a real threat to children and other dogs, I might seriously consider euthanizing the dog. I don't say this lightly, but no shelter or rescue is going to take him as an adoption candidate if he is seriously aggressive and you can't pass the problem to someone else without telling them, or you could be sued. So it may down to the choice to pay a lot of money for a lot of training (that doesn't always work) or euthanasia.

A puppy instructor is anybody that teaches puppies how one can reply to instructions from a handler however to be a well instructor they have got to be ready to have an understanding of how a puppies brain works, so have got to be just a little of a psychologist as good. Most so referred to as behaviourists/ psychologists don`t truthfully coach puppies to do set physical activities like an obedience instructor however attempt to variety out a puppy that has behaviour issues. Someone with plenty of revel in with puppies is all the above. And sure, puppies may also be fairly difficult animals. Especially ones which have been rather abused or screwed up by means of ignorant approaches of dealing with them. Yes, any individual can name themselves a puppy instructor and plenty of persons that don't have any revel in aside from taking a two week coaching direction do. They then cross out and cost £30-50 an hour for his or her offerings an damage numerous puppies. Jmo.

You are turning your back on the very thing that will help you most. Obedience Classes teaches you how to train your dog. Ok, so your dog knows how to do a few tricks but he/she is not obedience trained.
You need a trainer & the people who operate these obedience classes will help you with that issue. Because that kind of behavior will not be tolerated in the classes. So they will help you get a handle on your problem.
If your dog is that aggressive you are in for a lot of trouble & you need to get a handle on it NOW.
Trainers run the obedience classes so there is your trainer. They will help you get control.
Obedience Classes are fun. People just like you with the same problems that you have. Everybody shares information.
Obedience Classes are cheaper than getting a trainer to work on a one on one basis.
These classes will be well worth the money.
You need professional help when you have an aggression problem.

Obedience training is exactly what you need. However, you're right, Petco and such are for much more docile animals - not the aggressive kind.
How about calling the local SPCA or Humane Society - perhaps they can recommend someone -
Good luck kid. I'm proud of you for wanting to take care of your dog properly.

If your dog is kid and dog aggressive obedience training is EXACTLY what you need. Your problem isn't barking, so don't hire someone to help with an issue you don't have. My advice is to get out the phone book or call local vets for their recommendations. Many good trainers don't advertise in the yellow pages, it's all word of mouth.

Some humane society educate their volunteers in themes like behaviour problems so that they can help with the homeless dogs and make them adoptable. Maybe you don't have the time or the age to become a volunteer -and at the same time help your dog-, but a friend or acquaintance can connect you with a person with such experience and this can cost you less or be even free.

The first step is obedience training and socialization. You have not socialized the pet that is the aggressive behavior. However; you may be too late for petsmart to even allow you in one of their classes and your only solution is a professional trainer or risk the life of the neighborhood animals and kids keeping your dog alive.
Added:
If his obedience skills are so great why can't you tell him "NO" when he starts to act up around kids or other animals and he listen?? SO apparently the obedience skills aren't so great and maybe you should take a class or two and teach him the basics so he understands "NO" in a situation he is not accustomed to. Petsmarts basic classes will teach you to get your dogs attention with distractions. My dogs are better for me out in public and around other animals and kids. They are the strangers mommy they trust and look to me for the guidance. Get your dog at least basic training.
Added Again:?
If you are such a great trainer why does your dog have aggression issues?

just a hunch here...
but when i was looking into getting a dog from an animal shelter, i read that they do a lot of training sessions for dogs to get rid of any fear or aggression issues they might be having. Now i don't know if the one that you live by would let you, but it wouldn't hurt to explain your situation to them and see if they would be willing to help solve your dog's aggression issues.

Definately not ! A dog should not be forced to wear any sort of shoes - especially not trainers - they are bad for their claws
