It sounds like a hematoma. When I was growing up, we had a border collie who got these from time to time from shaking his head really hard. (He always had bad ear mites, and it was difficult to treat them.) Chances are if she swims a lot and shakes really hard afterward, that's what's causing it. You will not be able to cure this condition yourself. Your vet will most likely insert a drainage tube in the ear for a short period of time, so that the fluid can be properly released from inside the skin. After the ear drains, the hole where the tube was will be bandaged or stitched closed. It takes a couple of days to complete the process, but it's worth it...the more swollen the ear gets, the more pain it will cause her, even if it doesn't seem to be bothering her now. In the future, it might be a good idea to check her ears regularly after she swims...try to dry them out really good so she doesn't need to shake so hard. Good luck.

It sounds like an abscess. It's filled with puss and blood and needs to be drained. Draining will give immediate relief to the dog. This is caused by a small cut or bite that may have gotten infected. The dog should be taken to a vet, have it lanced and put on antibiotics. If not cared for he could end up with blood poisoning.

Well, you need to take him to a vet. From what you are describing, it is either a really nasty ear infection, or an ear hematoma (the ear flap fills with blood). Both can only be treated by a vet. The dog IS IN PAIN, don't wait.

There is a way of knowing what it is - go to a vet! These are the people who can tell you what it is and how to treat it, for sure no one on here can.
It sounds most like an aural haematoma. This requires veterinary attention to drain.
ALWAYS take an animal to a vet if you suspect something is wrong - it's what they're there for you know.

It sounds painful! Maybe the dog has had it for so long she has gotten used to the feeling. A snake or something may have bitten her in the water. Take the dog to the vet ASAP!

It's likely a hematoma.. Hit the ear on something while shaking the head etc.. You'll need to go to the vet and have it taken care of properly.

She probably has an ear infection, from the water from swimming!!
Take her to your regular vet and let them clean it out and check it out, they will probably run tests to make sure that is what it is. I hope this helps!!

There is no way of knowing for sure? How about taking it to a vet? Why is she letting that go on? It's got to hurt.

Take the dog to the vet immediatly. You are causing damage to the entire ear by not treating it.
GO NOW!!!
