I read on jayski.com that ginn racing is looking at a merger with dei. Ginn racing is lacking funding right now and have already shut down their busch series team, with driver reagan smith. They're looking to get smith more seat time, so my guess would be that they will move him into sterlings, or nemechecks cup ride for the rest of the year.

Then, if they do merge with dei they will have to get rid of two teams, since the maximum is four.

So my guess is marlin, and nemechek will get the boot.

Does anybody have any more ideas, or information on this? thanks alot.

Interesting, isn't it?? Might be TEI's salvation. I just did a little research... see what you think about this:
Well to start with Sterling Marlin and Joe Nemechek can be let go at the end of the year because their contracts expire. ESPN is also reporting that Aric Almirola has been tabbed to share the 01 ride with Mark Martin next year. Therefore, Martin and Almirola could share the 01 Army car for DEI next year. That leaves Regan Smith who has been promised the 14 by Ginn. Put him in the 8 instead and "Bob's Your Uncle" you've got it. WOW!

If the deal actually goes through, and it looks as though it just might, it'd be a force to be reckoned with.

I heard this over the weekend as well, and jayski.com is now reporting that Smith will be taking over Marlin's ride next year. Nemechek will not be running at Indy unless a sponsor can be found, so I would guess that DEI/Ginn will look something like this next year:

#01 - Mark Martin/Aric Almirola (sp?)
#1 - Martin Truex, Jr.
#14 - Regan Smith (Jr. gets to keep the #8 at HMS)
#15 - Paul Menard

Looks like Marlin and Nemechek have already been told they are free to look for other rides.

this is incredibly complicated to me. DEI gets the fourth team it needs, gets Ginn Racing's facility, which apparently is extra useful than DEI's. The 15 vehicle gets in all of the races assuming it could stay interior the right 35. yet regrettably Marlin and Nemechek are the dissenters to that end. it isn't very possibly that they are going to the two get rides for something of the season. additionally, what happens to Almirola? He became going to stress the 01 vehicle with Mark Martin, yet now it form of feels that Regan Smith will nonetheless finally end up making use of those races, now that the 14 vehicle would be long gone. a lot for Almirola's opportunities interior the huge teach.

Very interesting ,Sterling was already talking about going to a lighter schedule and Joe said it was looking like he was going to be a free agent. So whats it going to be GTEI or TGEI ? The plot thickens !!!!
