Bullet 1) Why do some people have a picture of whats supposed to be Jesus even though they know that the painter(s) who painted it didn't even live in the same era as him and he's everywhere as if ppl know thats what he really looks like?
Bullet 2) If one has this painting of Jesus do you think of it as an object of faith, hope, or does having it give you a sense of reassurance?
Bullet 3) If we have faith then why is a "picture of Jesus" needed? I mean its only an object and isn't your love of Jesus enough?

+ Bullet 1)

Any representation of someone we love, whether Jesus, your spouse, or your child, is a reminder of that person. It jogs our memory to think once again of that wonderful someone.

It does not even have to a a perfect picture. I could be a sketch or a caricature that looks very little like the person. It might be a letter from that person that we carry next to our heart.

It might be looking at the birth stones on a mother's pendant.

But in the end, all of these things are symbols and symbols are very powerful things for human beings.

A symbol is something that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention, especially a material object used to represent something invisible.

Common Christian symbols are
+ A cross
+ A crucifix
+ A picture of Jesus (that probably looks nothing like him)
+ A fish
+ A picture or statue of an angel (that probably looks nothing like one)
+ A picture or statue of an saint (that may or may not look like one)

+ Bullet 2)

A painting of Jesus is a symbol of faith, hope and love and it can give someone a sense of reassurance.

Throughout the history of Christian art there have been many symbols used to portray a variety of truths. Especially for people who could not read, the use of symbols was an important tool for teaching the truths of the faith. Christian art in churches may have been decorative, but its prime purpose was to educate the faithful. All the decorative arts were employed toward this end. What may seem to us mere decoration, has a purpose and a deeper significance.

+ Bullet 3)

You are correct. If we have faith then a picture of Jesus is not needed. But they can be very nice to have. Think of them as religious luxuries.

These symbols (Catholics call them sacramentals) do not give sanctifying grace but they can help us lead holy lives.

+ With love in Christ.

Well as you would wager, that designated query has to have elements in the back of it. Like what's the brain-set of the character preserving the gun? If this is a cop, no she or he will more commonly now not shoot you. If it's an volatile character with intellectual issues you bigger get capable to run. I as soon as knew a Christian who labored in a 24 hr 7-eleven retailer. At approximately one million am a man got here in with a 357 magnum pistol and demanded all his coins. This clerk smiled and stated, and that is no comic story, "You can not kill me, the worst you'll be able to do is ship me to heaven--pass forward and shoot, you are now not getting a cent from me". The gunman was once so freaked out he stormed out of the shop. I occur to be a Christian, however this man might have ended up with each and every cent I had, however individuals are extraordinary.

1. Everyone has their own idea of what Jesus might look like. When people paint a picture of Him, that is their own representation of Him.

I have seen artwork depicting Jesus in different ways: African American Jesus, Asian Jesus, Native American Jesus, etc.

2. A painting of Jesus is a reminder of Him. I have family photos in my house, of both living and deceased relatives. They are reminders to me of how blessed I am. The same goes for a picture of Jesus in my home.

3. I love Jesus with my whole heart. But in our busy lives, it is easy sometimes for Jesus to get put "on the back burner" so to speak. Symbols that remind us of Him: paintings, crucifix, etc help to stay focused on Him during the day.
