You are 100% correct in your assumption, all these religious folk would have been better off if they had argued the point about treat them as parables rather than fact, it's the message behind the story which is the important bit!! etc etc.
However am not one of these religious folk, so why some insist of the truth behind these stories, I just don't know? It does their cause no good at all.
Even coming forward in time to the story of Jesus the manger the consensus in Bethlehem etc etc, this cannot be proved, there is no record anywhere of any consensus in Bethlehem around that time.
Which brings us back to the age old question, is there a God?
The answer to that is certainly not proved nor can it ever be! On the other hand it can never be disproved!
I suppose it's safe to say that based on all the available evidence to date which mainly relies on quotes from the bible, new testament and old testament there must be, except for the many flaws, such as all 'Holy' books have been proved to be full of regurgitated history, that was thought up long before these latest religions!
At the end of the day you are free to make up your own mind!
Good luck with that one. Youhave a long, long journey ahead.

i wouldn't say that the people in the bible didn't excist - it was god that didn't/ doesn't excist. in those days families had their own god hence the term ' god of our fathers' abraham came from a land called sumer - they were very advanced for an ancient race but unfortunately for the rest of us his god yahweh/ jehovah is still with us causing havoc all over the globe.
taking the torah - koran and the bible together you can probably say that the history has a ring of truth but the adam and eve stuff along with red seas parting and miracles is fiction elaborated to make their imaginary god more powerful and discourage others from going against them religion after all is just a means of controlling the masses.
the more people have the opinion the stronger it becomes but it doesn't make it the truth.
lets face it without god all the wars that have occurred and those that are still going on would have been pointless.
the crusades and inquisitions would have had no justification at all without god.
there seems to be a strong consensus that a massive flood occurred and science and archeaology have shown a possibilty of this happening but after the last ice age there would have been a lot of melting water flooding everywhere who knows maybe thats where the story came from .
we can probably trust the history but not the rest.

Prove it! supposedly the the parting of the red sea was crap also. I was told by some intellect, that although the thousands of soldiers that died in the red sea, and their chariots lost, was confirmed as an historical fact. He said that the parting of the red sea was not necessary because the water level at that time was only 6" deep in that section of the Red sea.
WOW! So this would be even a greater miracle. God through Moses, drowned the whole Egyption army in 6" of water, WOW! I do serve an awsome God. Thanks but Jesus existence, death, and resurrection are confirmed by 500 witnesses of his time and none of them were believers at that moment.
It is funny that some people claim to have found the body of Jesus, and his DNA CAN PROVE IT! What in the world are they going to compare his DNA to. The Bible states that he was conceived of a virgin and the seed, that of the Holy Spirit. Sorry nice try. You need to use not just your brain but all that you got. You will never prove anything. It may appear like proof, and that is it.

Many stories in the Bible are parables, or stories that teach a lesson. However, Noah, Adam and Abraham were all real people who lived real lives. Without these men, you would not be here today asking such a silly question!

Adam in my opinion can't be taken literally. Noah, an ark has been discovered in the Himalaya's that is believed to be Noah's. Abraham is the father of the 12 tribes of Israel..him you can believe in.

The stories are to be taken literally true. The Bible has no untruth or falsehood. No fiction in the bible. A few metaphors where something is spoken of as though it were another thing to clarify for better understanding only. Not for falsehood or untruth or betrayal of the truth.
